Chapter One
Miley’s POV:
Today was my first ever day of high school. I knew it was gonna be a huge change going from being the top of the school back down to the way bottom. I wasn’t nervous though because I had my best friend, Demi, by my side. She was a Junior so she knew that school like the back of her hand and promised me she would help me get around. I checked my phone and saw the time was 6:45, Demi would be here in about 15 minutes. I also noticed I had a text. I clicked “Open” and instantly a message from Demi appeared. Hey girl, happy first day of high school! I’m on my way and I’ll be there in 10. Be ready! Xoxo, Dem<3
I was too nervous to text back. She was gonna be here in 10 minutes and I still hadn’t even done my makeup yet! I hurried to my bathroom, yes, my very own, oh, the benefits of being an only child, and sat at my mirror and got to work. I went for a very classic and simple, barely there but still noticeable, look. I gave myself a final check before going downstairs. I went with short light wash shorts, a white zip up hoodie, and brown fringy boots. My freshly died light brown hair had curled after I let it air dry. I checked my cell once more and saw it was now 6:52. Oh crap, I thought to myself. I gotta get downstairs before Demi gets here. I grabbed my blue North Face backpack and sprinted down the stairs. I ran into the kitchen, grabbed a protein bar and made my way towards the front door awaiting Demi’s car to pull up and take me to my first day of high school.
Demi’s POV:
I was going as fast as my little red sedan would take me. I had to hurry and get Miley so we’d be to school on time. Normally I wouldn’t be in a rush to get to school. The only reason I was today was because according to Facebook, the one and only, delicious Joe Jonas himself was newly single. That’s right, as of last Wednesday, he’s no longer “In a relationship with Ashley Greene” which means if I play my cards right, his relationship status could say “In a relationship with Demi Lovato.” Once Miley’s house was in sight, I eased up on my speed and gently rolled into her driveway. I saw her waiting on her bench and gave her a smile and a wave. She returned the gesture and got into the passenger seat. I reached over and gave her a hug. “Hey girlie, you ready for your first day of high school?” I asked, hoping to lighten the mood. “It’s whatever.” She replied, sounding a little upset. I knew that meant one thing. Her mom and dad were away on a trip and didn’t get to see her off to her first day. I didn’t want to say anything and make her even more upset so I just left it at that.
“Well once we get there, I’ll show you around. I’ll fill you in on all the hot spots to hang out, where to find the cuties, and who to avoid.” “Thanks Dem, it means the world to me.” Miley quietly said. I couldn’t take the total awkward silence we were in so I leaned forward and turned on my favorite radio station. Party Rock Anthem was playing and I started jamming out. I felt awkward until Miley joined me. My Miley was back and I was happy to see that.
Nick’s POV:
“Joe hurry up or we’re gonna be late!” I yelled while I banged on the bathroom door getting more and more impatient with every second that went by. “Calm down Nicholas, I’m almost done.” Joe yelled back from behind the closed door. I hated when people called me Nicholas, it really got under my skin. Everyone, especially Joe, knew that which is exactly why he did it. “Ugh, fuck you man!” I yelled before storming off to my room to finish getting ready. Today was the first day in three months that I would see the beautiful Demi Lovato. The word pretty didn’t do her justice. She was an angel sent from Heaven. Last year, I was a freshmen and she didn’t notice me at all. That was gonna change this year, I was now a Sophomore and I was gonna make sure she would notice me.
Joe’s POV:
I couldn’t believe it was the first day of my Senior year. During the middle of the summer if you had asked me if I was excited, I’d say hell yes! But that was only because I knew once this year was over, me and Ashley, my ex girlfriend, were gonna go off to college and start our lives together. That was before though. Before the breakup, the heart ache, and the pain. I just didn’t have it in me to be excited anymore. I walked into my room, got dressed, then went out to my car with my little brother, Nick, and drove to school. Here we go, another year in hell.

Chapter Two
Miley’s POV:
I noticed we were getting closer to the school and reality was setting in. This was really happening. When Demi’s car came to a stop, I noticed we were in the parking lot. I got out and so did Demi. We walked through the front of the building and I could feel people staring at us. “Is this normal?” I asked Demi, I was really nervous. “Calm down Miles. You look hot and these guys are noticing. Work it.” Demi commanded. I followed the way she walked, eyes forward, shoulders back, head held high, and hips swaying perfectly from side to side. As I walked down the hall, I couldn’t help but notice a curly
haired cutie leaned up against a row of lockers talking to a scruffy, older looking guy. I had no idea who the curly haired kid was but I knew for a fact that whoever he was, I wanted to get to know him.
Demi’s POV:
As I walked through the halls with Miley, I noticed her get distracted by the Jonas boys. More specifically, Nick. “You like?” I playfully nudged her. Miley looked over at me and blushed. “Maybe.” She said nervously. I could tell she wanted to get to know him but was too nervous to make the first move so I figured I’d help her out. I took her hand and made our way over to them. “Hey guys.” I gave them my famous smile. “Hey Demi.” Nick said, smiling. “Hi Dem.” Joe said without making eye contact. I followed his gaze and noticed he was staring at…Miley!? No, it couldn’t be! I mean don’t get me wrong, she was
definitely pretty but she was only a little Freshmen and I was a hot Junior. He was probably just looking at her because she was new. Yeah, that must be it.
Nick’s POV:
As Demi stood in front of me, I felt my heart beat faster. She looked even more beautiful than I could remember. I stared at her, taking in her beauty when I couldn’t help but notice she was staring at Joe who was staring at the new girl who was staring at...me. I realized I was staring at her too and snapped out of it. I cleared my throat causing Joe and Demi to snap out of their little dazes also. “So Dems, who’s your friend?” I asked, trying to be polite. Demi looked over at me and smiled.
“This is Miley. Today’s her first day here.”
Joe’s POV:
So the beautiful girl in front of me was new here and her name was Miley. How very interesting. I put on my charming smile and extended my hand. “Hello Miley, I’m Joseph but you can call me Joe. Or Danger, whichever you prefer.” I’d used
that line on countless amounts of girls before but I really did mean it with her, she could call me whatever she preferred. “Danger, huh? Does that mean there’s a dangerous side of you I should know about?” She asked, throwing in a wink. Wow, this girl was fearless. She was flirting with a total stranger and she didn’t seem to care. I was going to respond when I noticed she wasn’t paying attention to me anymore. She was practically drooling over my brother. Hmm, so she likes curly, eh? Well I’ll just have to change that.

Chapter Three
Miley’s POV:
I looked over and noticed Nick was about to drown in a pool of drool that was created from him staring at Demi. It was clear Demi had no interest in him though, she was obviously interested in Joe. Nick couldn’t seem to take a hint though. I didn’t want to burst his bubble though so I just continued to admire him while he admired Demi who admired Joe who admired…me?! No, it couldn’t be me. I turned around and expected to see some beautiful blonde with long legs and beautiful tan skin. But when I turned around, all I saw was a row of lockers. Maybe he was just day dreaming. Yeah, that had to be it.
Demi’s POV:
Nick kept talking to me about pointless stuff that I really could care less about. I didn’t want to be rude though so I did what any good person would do, I pretended to listen and threw in a smile and nod when I felt it was appropriate. I prayed and prayed and prayed that the bell would ring so I wouldn’t have to listen to this conversation for much longer. Anything to take me out of this misery. I know it sounds bad but I just wasn’t attracted to Nick and I don’t think he knew how to take a hint.
Nick’s POV:
From the way this conversation was going, Demi didn’t seem at all interested. I didn’t know what it was. Most people found me to be funny and quite the charmer. Okay maybe that wasn’t me they thought of, it was Joe. But still, if that was what it took for Demi to notice me and give me a chance then I’d do it. I was gonna become more like Joe.
Joe’s POV:
The atmosphere around me was nothing but awkward. Miley was in a daze thinking about Curly. Curly was practically drooling over Demi. And Demi, she was clinging to me. What else was new? Normally, I wouldn’t mind it because I was so used to girls throwing themselves at me. But with Miley, it was different. When we met, she didn’t scream my name or faint when we touched. Nope, she just kinda blew me off to stare at Nick. As if by a miracle, bells went off in my head and I knew what I had to do. I had to become more like Nick. I put myself in Nick’s shoes for the moment planning what my next move should be. When the bell rang, signaling we had 3 minutes to get to our first period class, I knew what I had to do. Demi and Miley attempted to say goodbye and walk off to class but I couldn’t allow that to happen. “Hey Dem!” I yelled after her. When she turned around, there was a giant smile on her face. “Why don’t you let me show Miss Miley to class?” I hoped this would work out. Demi looked over to Miley. “Is that okay with you?” She asked. Miley looked down then back up at Demi. My heart pounded faster than ever before while I awaited for her answer. “Ummm…”

Chapter Four
Miley’s POV:
I didn’t know what to say. If I wanted a guy to walk me to class, it would have to be Nick. I didn’t think that would happen though, he was clearly interested in Demi. A light bulb went off in my head. If I wanted to get Nick’s attention, I’d have to do it the best way I knew how…make him jealous. When I saw Nick’s eyes were on mine, I decided to milk this moment. “I would love it if you would walk me to class, Joe.” I gave him my giant 100 watt smile. Joe smiled a big smile as well. It looked good on him. I liked guys with nice smiles. We walked off together, arm in arm. I turned around quickly and saw Nick staring right at me. I smiled and gave him a slight wave before turning back around and resting my head on Joe’s shoulder.
Demi’s POV:
Seeing Miley and Joe walk off like that didn’t make me feel so hot. How could he take interest in her?! I’ve been throwing myself at him for how long and Miley just walks in and suddenly he’s all over her. There was no way this could be happening. I angrily kicked the locker next to me only to realize Nick was still standing there. He gave me a weird look. “What are you staring at…Curly?! Move along!” I snapped before turning around and storming off to my first class.
Nick’s POV:
Most people would go into severe depression after getting snapped at by their love like I just had but I didn’t. It didn’t bother me like it would most people. In fact, I kind of found it hot. I checked the time on my cell and saw that class was starting in a minute. That meant I would have to somehow obtain the ability to either fly or run at inhuman speeds if I wanted to make it on time.
Joe’s POV:
I noticed all eyes on me and Miley as we strolled down the hallway. It probably looked like an odd sight to everyone, Joe Jonas and some Freshmen girl acting like a couple. Even though I’d only known Miley for a matter of minutes, I so wished that was true. And by the way she was acting with me, I thought she felt the same way as I did. That’s what I hoped at least. When we got to her class I was so confused. “Everything okay, Joey?” She asked in a cute tone. God, everything about this girl was just cute. I hated when people called me Joey. But on her, I didn’t mind. In fact, I wanted her to say it all the time. “It’s just…this is my first period class. Honors Calculus, P. Barnes.” Miley giggled. "Looks like we’re in the same class then.” She winked at me and walked inside, leaving me standing there, speechless.

Chapter Five
Miley’s POV:
After my sudden flirtatious burst with Joe in the hallway, I was feeling great. That changed though when I walked into my first period class and began to feel nervous. I knew I was taking a class that normally only Seniors took but knowing and seeing are two totally different things. I felt so awkward. Mostly because I was the youngest and these faces did not look familiar. I felt all eyes on me as I looked around the room. This was always the hardest part, picking your seat. I went for one in the back right corner. I sat down and laid my head in my hands, blocking our my surroundings. I figured I was safe from having to talk to people until I felt someone plop down in the seat next to me. I didn’t bother looking up though because I knew who it was.
Demi’s POV:
First period was such a drag. I didn’t see the point in taking history. Everyone ends up dying anyways, why do I need to learn about it?! I felt like if I sat in this class for one more minute, my head would explode. I took out my phone and let my fingers type away at the keypad. History sucks ass. I hit send and waited for a response. At least you don’t have math first period, that’s an even worse way to start your day. I tried to think of a cute response, something that didn’t make me sound immature. Maybe we can meet during lunch and go from a bad morning to a great afternoon? ;] I closed my phone an anxiously awaited the response I would get.
Nick’s POV:
I sat in science and just thought…about Demi. I‘ve liked her for as long as I can remember. I used to think she felt the same and that we were getting somewhere. That is, until Joe and Ashley broke up. Apparently, when Joe’s single, some spell is cast upon all the females of this school and they begin throwing themselves at him. This is especially true with Demi. She’s liked him for God knows how long. I want Demi to be happy but to be honest, I just don’t think her and Joe is a good idea. They’ll date for a little while, she’ll fall for him, he’ll tell her he’s fallen for her too and then when she wants to get serious, he’ll be out the door. I love Joe, he is my brother but at the same time, he is a heartbreaker and I could never watch the damage that would be done to Demi if they did date.
Joe’s POV:
With my phone in my hand, I kept looking down at the screen and rereading the words that had appeared on it moments ago. Maybe we can meet during lunch and go from a bad morning to a great afternoon? ;] I didn’t know how to reply to that. I hadn’t hooked up with anyone since Ashley and I hadn’t planed on it. Also, I had never given much thought to hooking up with Demi. I always thought of her as more of a little sister. I knew if we ended up hooking up, it wouldn’t end well. That’s why I tried avoiding doing it for as long as possible. Except today was very different, I didn’t have an excuse. I was no longer in a relationship and it’s not like I could come right out and say “Sorry Dem, we can’t hook up because I’m crushing on a Freshman.” That would stunt my rep. As much as I thought I liked Miley, I also liked being popular. I figured one time wouldn’t hurt. Of course, I’m in. ;) I’ll meet you in the Janitor’s closet at the beginning of lunch. I hit send and was about to try and focus on my notes when my phone buzzed almost immediately. Fantastic! See you then, don’t be late, I’ll be waiting<3 I didn’t bother responding, I just threw my phone in my backpack and stared at the clock counting the seconds until class would be over.

Chapter Six
Miley’s POV:
The bell rang and I nearly flew out of my seat. It wasn’t because I didn’t like math it was because I felt awkward being next to Joe. After he got a text or something, he just kept staring at the clock with this giant grin on his face. I has no idea what he was so excited about but judging by his personality, it had something to do with a girl. It wasn’t my business so I didn’t ask him any questions. I just ignored him and paid attention to the lesson plan. And that is why I felt so much relief when the bell rang. I gathered up my stuff and went on to whatever other classes I had.
Demi’s POV:
It seemed like forever until the fifth period bell rang. When it did though, I was in the best mood possible. In a matter of minutes, I would be in the janitors closet with Joe and pressed against him. What I had dreamed of for as long as I can remember. I couldn’t wait to see how things would go. As much as I didn’t want to wish this experience away, I was even more excited to see how things would go after we made out. Hopefully Joe would look right into my eyes and tell me I’m the best make out he’s ever had. Then he would tell ask me to be his girlfriend and tell me he loves me. I quickened the pace I was walking at and soon arrived at the door marked “Supplies closet.” I felt butterflies in my stomach but I pushed them aside and opened the door.
Joe’s POV:
I really could not believe I was gonna do this. I tried giving myself a mini pep talk before I got there. Come on Joe, she’s been throwing herself at you for years and she is kinda hot… Maybe it won’t be so bad. Maybe, just maybe, I thought.
Nick’s POV:
My favorite time of the day was here, lunch. I stopped at my locker and put away the newly issued textbooks. Then I made my way to the café. I was really hoping to get a seat next to Demi so to make up for lost time at my locker, I took a shortcut. I went down the abandoned hallway which saved me a couple minutes. I walked past the Janitors closet and heard some moaning coming from the inside of it. Well it sure as hell can’t be the janitor getting any action, I thought to myself. I hid behind a doorway not to far from the closet and waited. I was really curious to know who was in there and what was going on.

Chapter Seven
Miley’s POV:
I looked around the cafeteria, getting more and more nervous as it got more full. Where the hell was Demi? She promised me she’d meet me for lunch and that I could sit where her and her friends. But I’d been waiting here for like three minutes and she was no where to be found. I pulled out my phone and texted her once again. This was the sixth time I’d texted her but I had a feeling I wouldn’t hear back from her. I angrily slid my phone closed and walked over to a random table.
Demi’s POV:
Joe wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in as close as I would go. Being in his arms felt as amazing as I always dreamed it would be. Things started out slow and as the moments went on, the make out got more heated. It wasn’t long
before Joe’s hands were in my shirt and my hands made their way to Joe’s pants. I knew I was probably smiling like an idiot now but I didn’t care. One of my greatest fantasies was coming true and nothing could possibly ruin this moment.
Joe’s POV:
I couldn’t believe I was actually doing this. To my surprise though, Demi was pretty good. She knew what to do with her hands and her tongue. I picked her up, causing her legs wrapped around my ass, and carried her over to the shelf that
contained all the supplies. I gently set her down and slowly pulled away. We looked into each other’s eyes and in an instant, our lips were pressed against each others again. This time it was much shorter though and Demi pulled away. I saw her reach her into her bag and pull out her phone. Her jaw dropped and she looked like she had been hit with a realization of something. “Everything okay?” I asked while I took my hands and gently cupped her face in them. She nodded her head. “This was fun and all but I totally forgot I promised I’d meet Miley for lunch.” I smiled at the mention of Miley’s name but quickly covered it up. I walked over to the door and Demi followed. She intertwined our fingers and we walked off to the café together.
Nick’s POV:
The door opened and out came the two people. I looked closely at the back of their heads and saw it was Joe and…Demi. It couldn’t be. Joe knew how much I liked her. At first, I was in denial but when Joe told a joke of some sort and the brunette laughed, it was the exact same laugh Demi had, the laugh I fell for, I knew it was really her. I couldn’t believe Joe would do this to me. Instead of following them, I turned around and walked the alternate way to the café. As soon as I got there, I saw Miley sitting at a table by herself and an idea struck me all of a sudden. I giant smile came across my face and I began walking over to her.

Chapter Eight
Miley’s POV:
I sat at the table by myself and played with the salad I had brought from home. For some reason, I had this nervous feeling in my stomach so I wasn’t very hungry. I turned around and looked towards the doors that lead you into and out of the café. Right as I looked to the doors, it was as if, on cue, they opened. And who but Demi stepped inside with a giant grin on her face. I didn’t know why she was so happy but there better be a damn good reason for it. I looked to her left and saw the reason for her giant smile. There she was…with Joe…holding his hand. All sorts of thoughts were running through my head; the main one being that she blew me off for a boy. I was kinda pissed. I knew I shouldn’t be because she looked so happy but the least she could have done would be to text me back telling me what was going on but no, nothing. I was about to grab my stuff and go but when I turned back around to face the table, I saw I was no longer alone.
Demi’s POV:
All eyes were on me and Joe as we walked together. I looked up at him and he looked down at me. When our eyes met, I smiled even bigger than I already was. I gave his hand a little squeeze and he returned the gesture. I could not believe
this was happening!
Joe’s POV:
I couldn’t believe this was happening! I just hooked up with Demetria Lovato and was now holding hands with her while our entire lunch period watched. All eyes were on us but mine could only focus on the ocean blue ones that were staring back at me just seconds ago. Something changed that however and the beauty who the eyes belonged to was no longer staring at me but at the curly headed kid I called my brother.
Nick’s POV:
“Hi Miley.” I said with a smile on my face once she looked at me. She looked scared, like a rat in a lab. “Hey Nick.” “I noticed you staring at the lovely couple before. You didn’t seem too happy about it. Everything okay?” She shook her head. I reached across the table and took her hands in mine. “What’s wrong?” I asked while I gently stroked her hand with my thumb. She told me all about how her “best friend” ditched her for a guy and she was deeply upset about it. Normally I would laugh but she really seemed hurt. That made two of us. Once I knew we were on the same page, I decided to continue on with the whole reason I came over here. “I’ve got an idea that might make you feel better.” I smiled and looked deep into her blue eyes, waiting for her to give me the okay to continue.

Chapter Nine
Miley’s POV:
When Nick touched me, the way he did, I felt butterflies inside. A part of me hoped that he had now given up on Demi and was willing to give it a shot with me. I really hoped I wouldn’t be disappointed. I noticed Nick staring at me, pushed my thoughts aside, and focused on him again. “Alright, let’s hear it then.” Nick took a deep breath and looked kind of nervous. “Everything ok, Nick?” I asked, concerned about if he was okay or not. He looked over to a table where Demi and Joe were seated. Demi was sitting on Joe’s lap and he was feeding her grapes while she laughed hysterically. I noticed Nick looked a lot angrier now. He gave my hand a squeeze, took a deep breath, and then continued talking.
Demi’s POV:
The attention died down and everyone went back to their usual conversation. I didn’t care though. Joe and I were having a good time and it didn’t matter to me if everyone was watching us or if no one was watching us. All that mattered was I was actually sitting on Joseph Jonas’ lap while he fed me grapes! Nothing could ruin this moment…nothing.
Joe’s POV:
I tried to play it off like I was having a good time. It was hard to do when I saw the disgusted look Miley had given me not to long ago. I didn’t know what her deal was. First she was flirty with me then she just kinda blows me off and then when I hook up with someone, she acts repulsed by me. She was probably just PMSing. Yeah, that had to be it. I was forced out of my thoughts by Demi who was not straddling me. I looked at her and she winked at me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and started playing with the hairs on the back of my neck. This was gonna be a long school year.
Nick’s POV:
I finished explaining my idea to Miley and looked over at her. This was my signal for her to tell me what was on her mind. When no words were said, I didn’t know what to think. I looked right into her ocean blue eyes. Until this moment, I never noticed how beautiful they really were. I was mesmerized by them. Who couldn’t be? Focus Nick! “So what do you say?” I asked, trying to keep my cool. Miley nodded her head. “I’m in.” I smiled, this was going to be great. “Fantastic! We’ll start
after lunch.” That ended that topic. For the rest of the period, we talked about random stuff. I figured if we were gonna go through with this, I should know her as best as possible.

Chapter Ten
**A few months later (December)**
Miley’s POV:
Nick and I had a surprisingly interesting conversation during lunch on the first day of school. It turns out we had a lot more in common than I thought we would. And I hoped I wasn’t over thinking things but as time went on and we hung out more frequently, it seemed like Nick might be taking an interest in me. Then I remembered the whole reason we were hanging out so much. All because of his stupid plan. The plan to get Demi jealous so she'd finally notice Nick and give him a chance. Once that happened, he would probably never talk to me ever again. I decided I couldn’t let that happen. I was really
getting to know Nick and with every word he spoke to me, my attraction to him got stronger. I was gonna use this plan to my advantage to make sure I was the one he’d fall for. And I knew just the way to do it…
Demi’s POV:
As time went on, Joe and I got closer and closer together. Some would say we were official but after Joe’s breakup with Ashley, he didn’t believe in titles. It kinda sucked that he was willing to hook up with me and do all that stuff but he couldn’t ask me to be his girlfriend but I guess I understood where he was coming from. And as many times as I tried to convince him I would never break his heart, he would always just shake his head, smile and say “That’s what they all say.” Then he’d kiss me on the top of my head and walk away. I wasn’t gonna let this continue for much longer. I knew what I had to do to make him realize I was the one for him.
Nick's POV:
After school got out for the weekend, I left my last class of the day and met Miley at her locker. Our plan was once school was out, we’d go to her place, get some clothes for tonight and tomorrow, then we’d go back to my place cause she was spending the night. But when we walked out we saw that Joe wasn’t waiting for us like he promised. I tried calling and texting him but never got an answer. Miley did too and when she spoke to him, he said he was “sorry” and that he “totally forgot” but would “make it up to us somehow.” I wanted her to tell him that that didn’t help us now but she was too polite to do that and just told him it was okay and all was forgiven. The only other choice we had left was to walk. My house was like three blocks away so we decided to skip going to Miley's house, she could just borrow my clothes and go right to my house. The walk home was surprisingly comfortable. We held hands and when Miley started getting a little tired, I gave her a piggy back ride the rest of the way. It was actually a really fun time.
When we got inside I told Miley to make herself at home and that I would make us some hot chocolate to help warm up from the cold walk home. While I busied myself with that, she picked a movie for us to watch. Surprisingly, she went with Grease, which was apparently her favorite movie. I didn’t mind though. Truth be told, I was kind of obsessed with that movie. After our movie was finished, I looked over at Miley and saw she was getting teary eyed. “It’s such a cute movie.” She said before looking over at me and smiling. I looked down at her and laughed a little. “What’s so funny?” She seemed a little upset. “Nothing, it’s just you got a little.” I was cut off when I stared into those beautiful ocean blue eyes of hers. Without taking my eyes off hers, I reached over, grabbed a napkin, wiped the hot chocolate that had made its way onto her nose off and slowly leaned in. To my surprise, Miley did the same and our lips met.
Joe’s POV:
Thank God today was Friday and school was over for the day. Not only that but winter break would be here in just two weeks. I was so excited except for the fact that I had no where to go. Normally, Ashley and I would go up to her parent’s cabin for the week but since we were no longer together, that wasn’t really an option. And there was no where to go on vacation because my parents would be off on a business trip that week so it was just me and Nick at home. I didn’t worry though cause I knew we’d figure something out. My thoughts were cut short by Demi, who was clearly not happy. “Joseph! Were you listening to a word I just said?!” I could tell she was getting impatient partly because there was so much traffic and also because I wasn’t listening to anything she had just told me. I shook my head and prepared for her to start screaming at me. That’s what normally happened at least. Well not today. She was surprisingly in a good mood. She smiled and shook her head. “I said, I’m excited you agreed to let me spend the night.” “Yeah, I am too.” I lied. She had been on my case about spending the night for the past couple weeks so I finally gave in. and told her she could stay the night. I realized that might not have been the best idea when I walked inside and saw none other than Miley and Nick sitting on the living room couch…making out?!

Chapter Eleven
Miley’s POV:
I couldn’t believe this was actually happening… I’d waited months for Nick to kiss me like he was doing right now and it felt so perfect. I pressed my body a little closer to him, so close that if you put a magazine in between us, it wouldn’t fall to the ground. Nick gently rubbed his tongue over the bottom of my lip. I slowly opened my mouth and allowed him inside to explore. This was short lived due to someone coughing uncontrollably. Nick and I sprung apart and looked over to the location in which the noise came from.
Demi’s POV:
When I saw what was going on in front of me on the Jonas’ couch, I think shocked was the best adjective to describe my mood. Was Miley actually making out with Nick?! I couldn’t believe my little girl was actually growing up! I clapped my hands and started cheering. It earned me a giggle from Miley, a smile and head nod from Nick, and a nasty scowl from Joe. Rawr, what was his problem?!
Nick’s POV:
I saw how embarrassed Miley looked so I took her hand in mine and gave it a simple, gentle, reassuring squeeze. It seemed like it was working cause the bright red in her face faded. I also saw how happy Demi looked. I guess it was possible for me to find happiness without her in my life. Miley was living proof of that. But then there was Joe who was living proof that me kissing Miley pissed him the fuck off. I didn’t know why that was though. Clearly he was happy sucking face with Demi. Wasn’t he?
Joe’s POV:
The sight in front of me was disgusting. I had to watch the girl I had been admiring since the first day of school make out with my own brother in my own home. That was messed up. I couldn’t blame either of them though. I did make it seem like I was interested in and was with Demi. That totally wasn’t the case though. The only girl I had my eye on was Miley and I would do whatever it takes to prove that to her.

Chapter Twelve
Miley’s POV:
I felt my face get red as I saw Nick and I now had an audience. Nick helped calm me down though by taking my hand and giving it a squeeze. I looked over at him and smiled, he returned the gesture and then went back to looking at Demi
and Joe. Who by the way looked pissed about something, I wonder what his issue was?
Demi’s POV:
There was so much tension in this room that I couldn’t take it. Clearly something was up with Joe and he was bringing the whole mood way, way down. I gently took his hand in mine and led him to the other couch in the living room. He plopped down and I followed, sitting on his lap. I looked over at Nick and Miley who were gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes. Then I looked at Joe and that look of anger was still on his face. I tried to fix things by changing the subject, to get everyone’s mind off of whatever they were thinking about. “So, what’s everyone doing for winter break?”
Nick’s POV:
I was so lost in the beautiful oceans in front of me that I didn’t hear Demi speak. I noticed Miley was leaning in closer to me. I closed my eyes, waiting to feel her soft lips connect with mine, but opened them when that didn’t happen. Hear head was on my shoulder and I noticed she was going to whisper something in my ear. “Babe, Demi asked a question.” I looked over to Demi and saw her giggling at me and Miley. “Sorry Dems, what did you say?” I asked, honestly confused. “You guys are so cute!" "And obsessed with each other." Joe mumbled under his breath, which earned him a slap on the chest from Demi. She looked back over to us and repeated herself. "I asked what are your plans for Winter Break?”
Joe’s POV:
Nick answered Demi’s question truthfully, nothing. He explained to her and Miley how our parents basically abandoned us for the week and we would just be stuck at home doing whatever was around. Demi nodded her head and apologized for
our boring plans. “What about you, Dems?” Nick asked her. She looked over to Miley, as if she was asking her a question only the two of them could understand. Miley’s response was nodding her head and Demi continued talking. “Well Miley’s parents are gonna be away on business that week so they’re letting me and her go up to their cabin in Vermont to chill and hang out. It’s gonna be rad, you guys should totally come!” I looked over and Nick, and we began communicating telepathically. As if on cue, we both responded at the same time. “We’re in.” This was gonna be perfect… Me, Miley, and a ski cabin in Vermont. What could possibly go wrong?

Chapter Thirteen
Miley’s POV:
The next two school weeks droned on. I couldn’t tell if it was because I was so excited about spending a whole week in a cabin with Nick, or if it was seriously just the longest week on the face of the earth. Whatever the case may be, I didn’t really care. It was Friday and right after school, Joe, Demi, Nick, and I were gonna go to their houses, get their stuff for the week, and then go to my house. They were all gonna spend the night and we’d be up early the following morning so we could get on the road and be there that night. Thankfully we had the house to ourselves so we could pretty much do whatever we wanted. Part of me was looking forward to it, but part of me was worried.
Nick’s POV:
I walked out if my last class for the next week and went to meet Miley at her class. She always took forever to leave, she didn’t like being rushed, I didn’t mind though. When she finally did leave, she had a giant smile on her face. I loved seeing her smile, it was the greatest thing in the world. Nothing could compare to it. When I was crushing on Demi, I thought she had the most beautiful smile there ever was but now, after seeing Miley’s, I know how wrong I was. I reached my arms out, inviting Miley in for a hug, like we normally do. She wasn’t a fan of PDA so we never kissed in school, just at her house, or mine, until today. When I went to give her a hug, she took my hands in hers and stood on her tipp toes. I leaned down and accepted the kiss. If she was willing to kiss me in public now, I wondered what was in store once we got to the cabin. (;

Chapter Fourteen
Miley’s POV:
I ran my fingers through Nick’s curly locks. His hair was really soft, just like how it looked. I wasn’t aware we now had an audience around us until we were interrupted by someone clearing their throat. Nick and I slowly parted from each other, his hands remained on my butt though. I looked down at him and felt myself blush before I fixed my gaze towards Joe. “Oh hey, Joe, what’s up?” I slid Nick’s hand off my butt before moving over to Joe and wrapping my arms around his neck, so we were now in a warm hug.
Demi’s POV:
When that bell rang, I ran out of my French class and to my locker so fast, I was pretty sure if the track coach had seen me, he would have recruited me right then and there. I wasn’t in the mood for that right now, though. I just wanted to get to my locker, get my stuff, and be on my way to Miley’s house. I was in desperate need of this vacation!
Nick’s POV:
If looks could kill, Joe would be dead from the second Miley started hugging him. What the hell was that all about? We were having a nice moment and then Joe just strolls in and happy time is over. Damn, I hated Joe sometimes. This hug was going on for quite a while so I thought it was time for me to step in. I walked towards Miley gently tugged her away and looked into her deep blue eyes. “Nick, what was that ab-.” I cut her off before she had the chance to finish and did what came naturally to me…made out with her right then and there in front of my clearly jealous brother. While I did so, I looked him directly in the eyes and shot him a “Don’t even think about doing something like this while we’re at the ski cabin” look.
Joe’s POV:
Damn! I was one step closer at winning Miley over until Curly waltzed in and took her right back from me. I didn’t want to stare at them making out but I couldn’t pull my eyes away from it. Thankfully Demi came running to the hallway we were standing at and stopped them for me. “Alright, love birds, that’s enough sucking face for now. I need to go home and get my
stuff so we can get this party started!!” Nick and Miley did as they were told and parted ways. I You could tell Demi was pleased that they were actually listening to her. I was too, I couldn’t bear to watch that for much longer. I honestly hoped that little show in the hall way wasn’t a preview of what was to come once we got to the cabin…

Chapter Fifteen
Miley’s POV:
We finally got to my house and were waiting for the Chinese food to get here so we could eat. Nick, Demi, and Joe were fighting over what movie to watch. She wanted to watch a chick-flick and the boys wanted a horror movie. To be honest,
I just wanted a decision to be made. You could only listen to this for so long before your head actually started to hurt. When I finally couldn’t take it anymore, I let it all out. “GUYS! That’s enough!” In an instant, all three of them went from arguing, to looking at me like I’m crazy. I gave them my cute Miley Smile, aka, my ‘mile’ so I didn’t seem like such a bitch. “What’s wrong, Miles?” Demi asked, as she slowly walked over to me. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to snap at you guys, I’m just hungry and my period came today so my moods are all out of whack. And listening to you three fight over a movie was giving me a headache. I should have stayed calm though, I apologize.” The next person to walk over to me was Nick. He opened his arms wide and I got off of the couch and walked straight into them and he held me tight. “I’m sorry we made you feel that
way, baby. I promise, we’ll make a decision without having to fight first. Why don’t you go upstairs and put on your pajamas while we wait for the food?” I nodded my head and Nick started to pull away as Nick loosened his grip on me.
Then I started walking towards the stairs, but I felt the urge to look over to Joe. When I did, I saw him looking back at me. I gave him a friendly smile and all I got back from him was a scowl. Damn, that was kinda harsh…
Nick’s POV:
It was clear to anyone, even if you weren’t friends with us, that there was extreme tension in this room. It wasn’t my fault though, Joe just needed to get over Miley. I mean, seriously, bro, she’s with ME. But it seems like he doesn’t want to accept that. Whatever though, he’s with Demi, she’ll keep him busy. Because I refuse to put up with him hitting on her, or trying to, for that matter while I’m trying to have a nice vacation with my girlfriend. I will not allow it, and Joe knows it.
Demi’s POV:
I looked over at Joe, who was staring at the spot that Miley had just been standing in, and noticed how out of it he seemed. So I gently made my way over to him, he didn’t respond at all though. His gaze remained fixed on that spot. I gently waved my hand in front of his face, getting nothing back in return. I was really worried about him, something was bugging him and I had no idea what it was.
Joe’s POV:
I was so out of it and the strange thing is, I had no idea why! As much as I hated it and didn’t want to admit it, for the time being, Nick and Miley were a couple and until I had time do some planning, I would just have to accept it. I snapped myself out of my thoughts and gently stepped away from Demi. “I’m gonna go put my pajamas on, I’ll be down in a few minutes.” Both Demi and Nick nodded their heads and I started walking. I forgot I had no clue where I was going but I figured I’d just wing it. I walked to the upstairs, down a long hallway with many doors. I heard a lovely, angelic voice coming from one of the doors. I sneakily headed towards the noise. “Every step I’m taking, every move I’m making feels lost, with no direction…” I tipp toed over to the door and gently opened it, as the passion in her voice grew louder. She was singing about “the climb.” I had no idea what that was but I continued listening, growing more impressed as her vocal range increased and so did the
beauty of her voice. When her song came to an end, I quietly began clapping for her, showing how amazed I was. When Miley turned around, she had a petrified look on her face. “HOW LONG WERE YOU STANDING THERE?!”

Chapter Sixteen
Miley’s POV:
I wasn’t too sure what I was more shocked about… The fact that the hottest senior guy in the entire world was standing in my bedroom or the fact that the hottest senior guy in the entire world had just heard me singing. No one, and I mean no one, was allowed to hear me sing. I’m pretty sure the only people that have heard me sing is my parents and Demi. They always tried to enter me in talent shows and other competitions but I never let them. And Demi, who had musical connections, was always trying to get me meetings with talent agents. She was convinced I’d be a pop sensation. Truth be told, I didn’t think I had talent. Singing wasn’t something I was passionate about. I couldn’t imagine making a career out of it. Honestly, it was just something I did when I was bored, like tonight, for example. So when I realized Joe had heard me sing, I was freaked out. Not only was he a star athlete, he was also an aspiring musician. Last year, Demi took me to their schools end of the year talent show and Joe got up and sung this song called “I’m Sorry.” Let’s just say by the end of it, more than half of the room, including me, was in tears. If you wanted to talk about talent, Joe Jonas had talent. I couldn’t believe he heard me sing, he was probably gonna run off and tell all of his other musically talented friends how much of a disgrace my voice was.
Demi’s POV:
“Damn, Miley sure is taking a long time.” Those words that came from Nick were the first words spoken since Joe had left us just moments ago to go put on his pajamas. I nodded my head in agreement. There was another silence that filled the room but once again, Nick filled it. “I’m so bored.” Again, I nodded my head. “I think I have an idea to get us a little, unbored…” I said in a seductive tone, throwing in a wink at the end of my sentence. Nick was catching on and moved from the black leather couch he was sitting on to the loveseat I was sitting on. “And what might your idea be, Ms Lovato?” He asked back, in an even sexier and seductive voice than you could ever imagine. I went along with the little game. “I can show you better than I can tell you.” Nick’s eyes went wide and I leaned in closer to his face. I couldn’t believe I was gonna do this.
After all those years of him creeping on me and me pushing him away, I was making out with Nicholas Jonas. Not only that though, it was on the couch in the living room of his very girlfriend aka my best friend. I knew I should stop myself and pull away but something inside me urged me to keep going… So I did.
Nick’s POV:
Holy shit! This was all happening so fast. My fantasy since the sixth grade was coming true, I was making out with Demi Lovato. Ok, maybe it wasn’t my full fantasy, that went into some pretty interesting detail and I think it’s a little too much to expect just yet but I was still making out with her. It was so wrong but it felt so right. Wait, what am I saying?! I’m with Miley now. I have been for a while and I can’t betray her like this. I love her. Did I really just say that? Do I really love Miley? How could it be possible for me to love her? She was only supposed to be a plan to get Demi jealous and to want me. But hey, it looks like it worked if you ask me. Nick, stop it! You have to put an end to this right now before either Joe or Miley, or worse… Joley sees what’s going on. Alright, I’m gonna stop her in three, two, onnnnn- is that Demi’s tongue I feel?
Oh yeah, she sure knows what she’s doing. Maybe I shouldn’t stop her…just yet. Yeah, I’ll wait until I hear footsteps!
Joe’s POV:
It was clear Miley was less than thrilled by my unexpected visit to her room. I guess I couldn’t blame her though, she was probably caught off guard but from the second I heard that beautiful voice, I just HAD to find out where it was coming from. “Miley, you’re amazing!” I cautiously began walking towards her. In return, she took giant steps back until she was basically sitting on her bed. Then she turned herself so she was facing the wall. “Don’t lie to me.” She mumbled, but it was still clear enough for me to hear. I walked towards her bed and sat down next to her, wrapping my arms around her and gently dragging her down so we were now laying on the bed. Each of us was on our side so we were face to face and I noticed how she was even more beautiful up close. “Miley, music is my life and I’m not trying to brag but I have a lot of experience in the music industry. Therefore, you should take my advice when I tell you that you have a lot of talent.” For a moment, Miley was quiet. I took it as her thinking about what I’d just told her. She then nodded her head. “Ok, I’ll trust
your opinion.” I smiled and gave her a hug. She fit perfectly in my arms. Out of nowhere, an idea popped into my head. I wasn’t sure how this was gonna go but I was willing to take the risk. I quietly whispered in her ear. “Record a song
with me..” Miley slightly pulled back and looked directly up at me. “Cutest senior with the best voice ever who’s laying in my bed cuddling with me say what!?"

Joe was kidding right? He had to be… There was no way he would want to sing a song with me. I’d heard songs he had recorded and they were all really good. I could never compare to anything he’d done before. “Miles, you heard me.” Joe said, not bothering to repeat himself. Still in denial, I asked yet another question. “Are you serious, Joe?” Instead of speaking a response, Joe just looked down at me and nodded his head. Gently, I placed my index finger under his chin and brought it up, making him look at me. For the first time, I noticed how amazing his eyes were. They were brown but not dark brown like most people’s, they were light brown, almost hazel. “I’ll do it.” Was all I could manage to get out, I was in such a trance at the beauty of his eyes. He smiled at me and clapped his hands together and said, “Great!” I smiled back at him and
reached in for a hug, which he accepted. Then, almost as if it was meant to be, I felt myself leaning inwards towards Joe and he was doing the same.
Demi’s POV:
It wasn’t long before what started as me and Nick making out turned into a beyond heated make out session. I had to admit, he was much better than I ever imagined. Maybe I was with the wrong Jonas boy.. I pulled away, momentarily, for
a breath. I looked him right in the eyes as I gently rubbed up his thigh, towards his very obviously growing member. “Do you have one?” I asked. He knew what I was referring to. I felt him gently remove my hand from his leg and reach
into his pants pocket, as he pulled out his black leather wallet. I noticed I was getting more and more impatient as I waited for him to check. To keep things going, I started kissing his jaw line. I could tell he liked it from the way he started searching faster and his, what were originally quiet moans, had now gotten louder.. Much louder.
Nick’s POV:
My God, was she feisty! It was such a turn on. I reached into my wallet and searched for what I was looking for. Finally, success was mine and I retrieved the gold packaging I had been looking for. Demi’s eyes immediately lit up and she went right to work. Slowly, she removed my pants and then quickly ripped my shirt off. Following suit, I did the same, only to her. Then, the gold packaging was torn open and thrown somewhere off into the distance of the other side of Miley’s living room and from there, things got crazy.
Joe’s POV:
Miley and I began leaning in towards each other and as soon as our lips touched, I felt the chemistry that I knew had always existed was truly there. When I felt her beginning to pull away, I expected her to look me right in the eyes, smile at me, and tell me how amazing that was. But that was far from what she did. Her reaction was this.. She pulled away from me, looked my in the eyes with a look of fear on her face, and she sprung up from her bed. “I can’t do this, I’m sorry.” And that was all she said before she ran out of her room and down the stairs.

Chapter Eighteen
Miley's POV:
I don't know what the hell came over me back there but I didn't like it. What was I thinking? I couldn't kiss my boyfriend's brother slash my best friend's boyfriend... That was just wrong! If there's one thing I'm not, that's definitely a home wrecker. But the weird thing is that as wrong as I knew it was and as much as I didn't want to kiss Joe, there was an even bigger part of me that didn't care and wanted to kiss him anyway...
Nick's POV:
I was in the middle of what was and will probably always be the greatest make out session of my life and was about to take it to a whole other level, if you know what I'm saying, when I heard footsteps getting closer to the living room. Damn, it was just my luck, I thought to myself. I gently pushed Demi off me and ran to the bathroom. I slammed the door shut behind me and slid down the wall, sighing a sigh of relief as I did. If Demi and I were gonna keep this up, which I hoped we were, we were gonna have to get better at this whole sneaking around thing.
Demi's POV:
As wrong as I knew it was, I really liked kissing Nick. I'm honestly not sure why I blew him off for all these years. When we kissed, I felt sparks and excitement. Not like the lust and other sexual desires that I had mistaken as love with Joe. Maybe I did end up with the wrong brother... Nicholas Jonas was the one for me. I know I said the same thing about Joe but this time.. This time, I was sure of it.
Joe's POV:
After being blown off by Miley like that, I knew something wasn't quite right. One second she was leaning in to kiss me and then the next, she was freaking out and running out of the room. I didn't want to seem annoying and clingy so I gave her about 5 minutes to herself before leaving the room and making my way downstairs. I saw Demi and Miley sitting on the couches, engrossed in "The Last Song," Nick was no where to be found so I took this as my golden opportunity, I was gonna make Miley jealous.

Chapter Nineteen
Miley’s POV:
To my surprise, Joe joined us downstairs. He even squeezed right in between the two of us. Then he helped himself to a handful of popcorn, stuffed it in his mouth, leaned back, and wrapped his arms around Demi. She looked up at him and smiled before cuddling into him. I hated seeing them like that, all happy and cute. I managed to tolerate it though. But that could only continue for so long. Then, Joe did something that I knew would drive me over the edge… “God, that Liam guy is such a cocky tool. He thinks he has an amazing body. Sit your ass
down, you’re not that pretty. And, trust me, your abs got nothing on mine. I definitely believed that was true and I wanted to see it really badly. But I couldn’t just ask to see his abs, that would be really weird. Thankfully, I
didn’t have to… Demi did. And Joe gladly accepted.
Demi’s POV:
God, Joe had an amazing body. But the entire time he was standing in front of me with his shirt up, abs exposed, I couldn’t help but think of Nick. I looked over and saw Miley was in shock at the vision in front of her. What was she doing, staring at my boyfriend like that? I was about to make a comment but then I remembered that I’m going around with her boyfriend behind her back and I just kept my mouth shut. Joe walked over and began straddling me. Then, things turned into a heated make out session between the two of us. Boy, could Joe kiss. But,
in all honesty, he was nothing compared to kissing Nick.
Nick’s POV:
I took my time in the bathroom, not wanting to seem anxious about getting back out there. Although, the rush of sneaking around behind Miley’s and Joe’s backs was pretty exciting. When I felt like it was appropriate, I made my way out of the living room and saw something I was not expecting… Demi and Joe in full out make on mode, while Miley just stand there, clearly not sure what she should be doing. I couldn’t believe it though. Demi had assured me that the feelings she had for Joe were nothing compared to me. That was obviously some complete bullshit though. Or, she was just enjoying fooling around with both of us. If that was the case, then I was gonna have some fun too. I walked over to Miley, picked her up wrapped her legs around me and led her over to the other couch. If Demi wanted to play games, that was fine. I’m good at playing games, just watch.
Joe’s POV:
When Demi took charge like that, it was such a turn on. I couldn’t help but think of what it would be like to have such a heated make out session with Miley though. She definitely seemed like she would know what she was doing. Speaking of Miley… When I pulled away from Demi for a moment, to get a breath of air, I noticed the position Nick and Miley were in. Oh my God, what were they doing?! It sickened me to see that. Miley was such a sweet girl and she didn’t deserve to be making out with some scum bag while being felt up. She deserved a
boyfriend who would treat her right and when he kissed her, it would be filled with love and passion; not lust and desire. If, no wait.. When I become her boyfriend, I’ll make sure I’m that guy,

Chapter Twenty
*At the Cyrus Family’s Cabin*
Miley’s POV:
From the second I set foot inside my family’s cabin, I felt like I was home again. I’d spent so many holidays and school breaks here, that this place was a part of me. I took in a deep breath and inhaled the scent of snow and wood, I loved those two things more than anything else in the world. Everything looked exactly how my family and I left it when we were last here, perfect. Nick, Joe, and Demi walked in not too long after I did and immediately, their jaws dropped. I looked over at Demi and we both laughed. They looked so cute when they were in shock. “Is this really where we’re staying?” Joe asked, clearly unable to believe it. I nodded my head and Nick came running over to me. He picked me up in his arms and spun me around. “This place is amazing, baby! I already know this weekend’s going to be a blast.” He winked at me, then set me back down on the ground before going off with Demi to explore the rest of the house.
Nick’s POV:
So far, I’d only seen the outside and the entrance of this home and it was already the most beautiful home I’d ever seen in my entire life. While Miley and Joe were talking, Demi and I took this as our opportunity for us to sneak away so she could “show me the rest of the house.”
Demi’s POV:
I dragged Nick from the downstairs hallway all the way up to Miley’s bedroom. Well, for this week, it was where Joe and I were staying. As amazing as this cabin was, it only had two bedrooms, Miley’s and her parents. That meant, there would need to be sharing of rooms. And instead of splitting us up by girls and boys, something that would be done if this was Junior High, Miley figured she’d put us by couples. That way, and I quote, “if anything happened, the other two people who were not involved, wouldn’t have to feel awkward.” I guess it made
sense, in a weird way. It just sucked that the person I was rooming with, wasn’t the guy I was in love with. But I guess we would find a way to make it work, right?
Joe’s POV:
“Wow, they’ve been gone for quite a while…” I said, interrupting the 10 minute silence that had been filling the room Miley and I were in. Her beautiful, blue, eyes stopped reading the latest issue of Seventeen and looked
up at me. “I know. She must be giving him a very VIP tour.” Miley chuckled at her little joke. I fake laughed along with her. Even thought she was kidding, I had a feeling she wasn’t too far off. Maybe Demi was giving Nick a VIP tour but it definitely wasn’t of the Cyrus’ cabin, it was of something much different. I had a very strong gut feeling about it.

Chapter Twenty-One
Miley’s POV:
At first, when Demi and Nick, left me alone with Joe, I thought it was going to be super awkward. Surprisingly, it was kind of fun. We were sitting there, with the TV on, but we weren’t watching it. Instead, we were deep in
conversation about random stuff. It felt nice to be having an actual conversation with someone. Whenever Nick and I hung out, we would basically just spend the entire time making out, not talking about what was going on in our lives. There was hardly ever a pause in our conversation and if there was one, it was due to the fact that we were taking in what had just been said. While Joe was in the process of telling me a story about him winning a hula-hoop contest when he was on cruise with his family when he was younger, I snuck a glance at my watch and noticed how long Nick and Demi had been gone for. God, what could they possibly be doing? This house wasn’t even that big!
Nick’s POV:
It felt a little weird sneaking around like this, especially when my girlfriend and brother were right below us, in my girlfriend’s family’s cabin. I didn’t want it to have to be like this but Demi gave me something Miley wouldn’t
and as much as I wanted to, I couldn’t say no to her. My intention was to continue doing this for a little while longer, until my needs were fully satisfied, at least for a while, and then I’d go back to being fully dedicated
to Miley. Well, unless Demi and Joe broke up. Then, as bad as it sounds, I’d leave Miley and then enter a fully committed relationship with Demi.
Demi’s POV:
I was having an amazing time with Nick, he took his time making sure I was comfortable and enjoying myself, not something many guys would do. But, at the same time, I felt a little guilty and unsure of what to do… Was I supposed to tell Nick that we had to stop doing this before things got too out of hand? Or should I end things with Joe before he things with Nick and I got too serious and he found out on his own and ended up getting hurt as a result of it?
Joe’s POV:
Man, it felt great to be having a serious and intelligent conversation with someone. I never had something like that with Demi. Whenever I tried to have a conversation with her, it ended up leading to sex. But with Miley, that wasn’t the case. I felt like I could sit with her for hours and we would never run out of things to talk about. I took the next silence that fell upon us as my chance to ask her to hang out. “Miley…” I started. She looked over at me and smiled. “Yeah, Joe?” “Since they’re obviously off doing their own thing, would you be willing to do something with me? Maybe we can walk around the community and get a bite to eat or something?” I tried to sound confident, but I was really nervous. If she said yes, was it considered a date or just two friends hanging out? And what if she said no? Did that mean she was freaked out by me and not at all interested. Oh god, what did I just do!?

Chapter Twenty-Two
Miley’s POV:
Was this actually happening? Did Joseph Jonas, the hottest Senior in the entire high school actually just ask me out? My brain couldn’t comprehend this. Was he asking me to go as friends or like on a date date? I was getting ready to give him my answer, which was obviously going to be yes, but he cut me off before I had a chance to respond. “In a totally friendly way, of course.” My stomach sank when he added that last part in. Of course, he just wanted to go as friends, nothing more. Why would someone like Joe wanna go on a date with plain
old me?
Nick and Demi’s POV:
We were so into the heat of the moment that we had no concept of what was going on around us. The house could have been on fire and neither one of us would have noticed. Taking a break from the little make out session that was going on, Nick paused and looked at Demi. “Maybe we should stop this whole sneaking around thing and wait until we’ve both ended out current relationships before we get too far into things.” “Yeah, I think you’re right. But we’ve already gone almost the farthest a couple can go, we’re just not engaged or expecting. So it’s a little to late for that.. But you are right, we should end things with Miley and Joe so we don’t risk them finding out what’s going on and hating us forever.” We decided that we would end things with them as soon as we got back home and we weren’t going to do any sneaking around for the rest of the trip. Well, that was the plan until we heard the front door to the cabin open and slam shut, meaning that Miley and Joe had left and we had the cabin to ourselves. Okay, so we decided that after today, we wouldn’t do anything until we got back home.
Joe’s POV:
I’ve gotta admit, I was a little shocked when Miley agreed to go out with me. It was probably because I had made it clear that we were just going as friends, even though that’s not what I wanted at all. I wanted so badly to take her on a real date. You know, the kind where I show up at her locker with a dozen roses, ask her out, she gets all dolled up, I go to her house, meet with her parents, answer the 500 questions they’d throw at me, she makes a grand entrance down the stairs, my heart gets caught in my throat, then I recompose myself, escort her to my car, take her on a date, and when it comes time for me to drop her back off at her house, I stop her from going inside, give her the most passionate kiss she’s ever had, the fireworks go off, I ask her to be my girlfriend, she says yes, and then we’re together forever. Alright, so I should probably stop watching chick flicks with Dani and maybe I’m over thinking things a bit but that’s the kind of date Miley deserves. And hopefully after spending some time
alone with me, she’d give me the opportunity to take her on one just like that.

Alright, so I should probably stop watching chick flicks with Dani and maybe I’m over thinking things a bit but that’s the kind of date Miley deserves. And hopefully after spending some time
alone with me, she’d give me the opportunity to take her on one just like that.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Miley’s POV:
We ended up going to a small café not too far from my cabin. Thankfully, it was quiet so it gave Joe and I a chance to have some “alone time.” If that’s even what you would call it. It wasn’t like we were on a date, like I wanted. We were just two friends hanging out and happened to have the place we were hanging out at to ourselves. There was this awkward silence going on and I didn’t like it. I picked up my hot chocolate, Joe had insisted on buying it for me, and took a small sip, hoping it would help get me thinking of possible things to talk
about with Joe. Nothing was coming to mind. What was going on? Normally, you could put me in a room with any person and I would find a way to start a conversation with them. Not today though. For some reason, when I was around Joe, there was so much I wanted to say but I couldn’t think of the right words to say what I wanted to. Whoa, what was going on with me?! It seems like ever since Joe and I started talking and becoming better friends and I got to know the real him, I wanted to be with him more often. And when I was with him, I couldn’t be happier. Did I like Joe?
Joe’s POV:
Why were things so awkward between me and Miley? If we were at her house, we’d be in the middle of having a full blown conversation about who knows what. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea asking her here after all. Wait, what am I saying? This is what I’ve wanted for months and I couldn’t just assume that because things were awkward now, they would continue to be that way. Finally, there was some conversation coming from our table. “So… What are you most looking forward to this week?” Miley asked, before taking a sip of hot chocolate.
She looked so beautiful, even when she was drinking a hot beverage. What made her look even cuter was the fact that she had a little bit if whipped cream on the tip of her nose. Without a word, I gently leaned across the table and whispered, “You got a little…” I pulled away and went in to wipe it off. I didn’t have the chance though because when I reached in, Miley put her hands on my cheeks and pressed her lips to mine.

Chapter Twenty-Four
Miley’s POV:
Millions of thoughts were running through my mind right now. They ranged from, “I guess I do like Joe” all the way to “What the hell are you doing, Miley!? You have a boyfriend!” But that last thought, was far overpowered by my first thought. I shouldn’t have been so surprised that I like Joe though. Like I mentioned before, we’d been getting close for a while now and I feel like both he and I knew it would happen eventually. Especially when it was more than obvious that Joe had had feelings for me since we first met. So it just seemed natural that, when the time was right, things would fall together and we’d have some sort of hookup. But with Joe, it was different. I didn’t want whatever this was to be just a bunch of casual hookups whenever he or I were feeling horny but
didn’t want to do anything with our current boyfriend or, in Joe’s case, girlfriend. I wanted this to be something real that meant something and was actually gonna last.
Joe’s POV:
I pulled away from Miley and looked into those beautiful blue eyes of hers. No matter how many times I’d looked into them, they still got more and more beautiful each time. I moved over so I was sitting on the same side of the booth as her and wrapped my arms around her, holding her close, not wanting to let her go. “Spending time with you…” I gently whispered into her ear. She turned her head and looked at me. “What?” She asked. She looked so cute when she was confused. “You asked me what I’m most looking forward to this week. And my answer is spending time with you.” I pecked her lips very quickly and she giggled. Then, she nuzzled her head into my shoulder and I kissed the top of her head. Talk about a Kodak moment.
Nick’s POV:
After going at it for such a long time with Demi, I noticed I was getting very hungry. After I was sure both Demi and I were finished enough to tie us over for the rest of the time we were here, we cleaned ourselves off and then
headed out of the cabin in search of some place that would serve us food.
Demi’s POV:
I wasn’t in the mood to walk very far just to find food. Especially not after just having sex for an hour. That tired you out. Thankfully, where we were staying was a small town where everything was in walking distance and it took like five minutes to get from place to place. I told Nick he could pick where we were eating because he was the one who was starving. He decided on a small café not too far down the road from the cabin. And it looked like it was very quiet and there was only one couple sitting in the very far, back corner of the café. Thank God, I wasn’t in the mood to have to hide from Joe and Miley right now.

Chapter Twenty-Five
Miley’s POV:
I heard the café door open and immediately pulled away from Joe. It was obvious he was shocked and a little upset but I had a good reason for doing what I did. He was about to say something but I pressed my finger to his lips and gestured towards the door. With my finger still on his lips, he turned his head and looked over to where I told him to. I felt his mouth open wide and knew right away he saw what I did. We didn’t have time to run away or find some place else to sit because right away, we heard footsteps coming near us, followed by a voice. “Hi guys…”
Demi’s POV:
“I wasn’t expecting to see you guys here.” I said, in all honesty. Thank God Nick and I showered and cleaned ourselves up before going out to eat. Otherwise, things might have looked a bit suspicious. Although, from the way Miley and Joe were sitting next to each other, things between the two of them looked a little suspicious too…
Nick’s POV:
It seemed like there was some awkwardness and maybe even a little bit of tension between the four of us. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it though. Did something happen between Joe and Miley before Demi and I go here? The only reason I’m assuming something may have happened is because, when we first walked in, the “random couple” we saw, which turned out to be them, was sitting right next to each other. Then, as we got closer to them and noticed who it was, they seemed to spring apart. Miley was sitting so her body was basically pressed up against the wall and Joe was so far to the right of the booth that if you poked him the slightest bit, he’d be on the ground. What the hell could possibly be going on with them? No, that wasn’t possible. Joe was my brother and Miley was my girlfriend, why would they have any romantic involvement with each other? But
then I thought how I was doing the same thing to my brother and girlfriend. So if I could do it that easily, and without regret, what would stop them from doing the same? I had to do something. I wasn’t going to stop seeing Demi, I couldn’t do that. But I would just have to make sure I kept my focus and love more on Miley. For the time being, at least.
Joe’s POV:
It just figures. When Miley and I were finally starting to get somewhere, there just HAS to be something that gets in the way. At least we had gotten over the worst part - admitting that the feelings were really there. Well I guess we, technically, never fully admitted our feelings but it was obvious, to anyone with working eyes, that the feeling were there. And since we knew they were there, maybe this could be the start of something new. Maybe Miley would realize how much better I was for her than Nick and she’d want to be with me instead. At
least, that’s what I thought. Until I looked up and saw Nick and Miley holding hands and gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes.

Chapter Twenty-Six
*Back at the Cyrus’ cabin*
Miley’s POV:
I unlocked the front door to my family’s cabin and let my friends inside. Demi lead the way into the rec room and sat down on a couch. Joe plopped down next to her, I sat down next to him, and Nick sat down beside me. No one knew what to say so it was really quiet. The silence was interrupted by the phone ringing. “I’ll get it!” I shouted, jumping to my feet and running into the kitchen, being careful not to slip, seeing as I was only wearing socks. I took a moment to catch my breath before picking up the phone and speaking into it. “Hello?”
Demi’s POV:
With Miley gone, things were even more awkward… I was sitting in a room with my current boyfriend and his younger brother, slash the guy I was fooling around with behind my boyfriend’s back. Yeah, that was a good mix.
Nick’s POV:
I wasn’t really sure what to do. Part of me hoped that Joe would leave the room so I could be alone with Demi but another part of me knew how that was wrong and I couldn’t risk getting caught. I also had to be especially careful and make sure I spent a lot of time with Miley so that if there was anything going on with her and Joe, it would come to an end.
Joe’s POV:
AWKWARD! Sitting in this room was the weirdest thing. Even though it was awkward when Miley was here, I felt like it was way more awkward without her. Then, a cheery voice filled the room. “So, what do you guys wanna
do?” Miley plopped down next to me on the couch and looked back and forth from Demi, to me, to Nick, down at her lap, back to Demi. “We can go hit the slopes?” I suggested, only to realize it was getting dark outside and that might not be such a good idea. “There’s always Chinese and a movie?” Demi suggested. We all nodded. “I’ll get the menu so you can pick what you want. And it’s the boys turn to pick the movie.” Miley said, while getting up from the couch and heading towards the kitchen, searching for the menu. “I’ll be right back. I gotta, umm, pee.” I said, clearly not sounding convincing but I guess Nick and Demi didn’t notice. I left the room and followed Miley, hoping to get a little alone time.

Chapter Twenty-Seven
Miley’s POV:
I’d been looking for this magnet for a couple minutes now, but it was no where to be found though. I looked on top of the fridge, on the bulletin board that my mom had hung up, and even on the counter. Where the hell could it be? Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the menu stuck right on the refrigerator, being held up by a magnet. Well, duh! Of course it was on the refrigerator, where else would it be? I carefully slid the menu out from underneath the magnet and placed it on the counter. Then I turned around and opened the fridge, pulling out a Diet Coke for myself. When I turned back around, I noticed I was no longer alone, Joe had joined me.
Nick’s POV:
As soon as Joe left the room, Demi slid down the couch and began straddling me. Seductively, she began unbuttoning the buttons of my plaid shirt, just enough so that part of my chest was exposed. Then, she ran her fingers up and down the exposed patches of skin. Normally, it would be such a turn on for me but I refused to allow myself to enjoy what was being done. Ever since I had began to get suspicious about Miley and Joe, it made me feel guilty when I did stuff with Demi. Gently, I pushed her back, causing her to lose her balance and
fall off the couch, screaming as she did. She sprung back up, being sure to wipe her jeans and fix her hair, as she did and then glared at me. “What the fuck was that about?!”
Demi’s POV:
I tapped my foot, impatiently, waiting for Nick’s response. Taking in a deep breath, Nick got up and moved closer to me. He placed his hands on my arms and looked me in the eyes. “Demi, I know we’ve been fooling around and if I said I haven’t enjoyed it, I’d be lying to you. But, as we decided earlier, what we’re doing now needs to stop. At least until both of us are single. We’re here, with our boyfriends and girlfriends and if they found out how we’ve been sneaking around behind their backs, they’d be heartbroken and kill us. And I just can’t manage to see Miley heartbroken, it would kill me. So, Demi, things have to end between us right now because I care about Miley and don’t want to see her hurt. And I especially don’t want to be the reason that she’s hurt." Nick gently kissed me and then pulled away when we heard tears coming from the doorway.
Joe’s POV:
I pressed Miley up against the fridge and was holding her face and about to kiss her, when we heard screaming coming from the rec room. Miley ducked under my arms and ran towards that room, I followed closely behind her. We heard every word Nick said. From how much he enjoyed fooling around with her right up to where he said he had to end it though because he knew if Miley found out that it would “kill him.” I noticed Miley’s eyes, usually so pure and blue, were now almost impossible to see because of all the tears that were surrounding them.
“You didn’t wanna see me heartbroken, huh? Well you sure fooled me because guess what? I ended up heartbroken. How do you feel about that, Nick?” Miley managed to get that off her chest before turning around and running out of the room and out of the house.

Chapter Twenty-Eight
Miley’s POV:
I couldn’t believe what I had just found out! Was I really so dumb and so blind that I didn’t realize what was going on sooner? I knew it was too good to be true that Nick “loved me.” I don’t care what he said to Demi, if he really loved me, he would never have cheated on me to begin with. I’m glad I heard him say it though. If I didn’t I would still be a stupid, naive girl, who’s with some guy that doesn’t even care about her. Maybe it was better that we were over though. Nick needed someone who was woman enough for him, and I sure as hell wasn’t. In fact, I don’t think I was woman enough for anyone. I could give up boys all together and I don’t think it would make a bit of a difference. Maybe I should just save myself some heart ache and give up on them.
Demi’s POV:
Right now, I wasn’t at all concerned about what was going on between Nick and I, but about what had just happened to Miley and finding her. I had no idea what Vermont was like, especially at night, but I would tear the entire little town we were in apart, if that’s what it would take to find Miley. “Alright, I say we split up and search for Miley. It might be a small town but I’m sure there’s plenty of places she could be.” I said to Nick and Joe. Nick seemed to agree with me and Joe just looked horribly distraught. “Joe, is everything okay?” He looked up at me and I saw tears were in his eyes. He shook his head and looked back down.
Nick’s POV:
From Joe’s reaction, I could tell that my belief of Joe and Miley having more than just a friendship going on between them was 100% accurate. I wasn’t angry though. If anything, I felt more horrible than anything. From the second Joe had laid eyes on Miley, he’d had feelings for her. But then, everything got jumbled up and everyone ended up with the wrong person. I decided to play dumb though and only if Joe wanted to tell us what was wrong, then I’d listen to him and hear him out. Even if he wasn’t ready quite yet, I’d wait until he was. He
needed someone to talk to him and since it was my fault, it would only be fair if I was the one to listen to him and be there for him.
Joe’s POV:
It was weird how nice and calm both Demi and Nick were being to me. But I didn’t want them to be. I didn’t want to have any of the attention I was getting. The focus needed to be on Miley and finding where she was and if she’s
okay. Then, once we found her, it would be very important for all of us to sit down and talk about what the fuck had gone on in this mixed up love square.

Chapter Twenty-Nine
Miley’s POV:
I walked and walked and walked until I got in to the center of a small, nearby town, and walked into a small market. I didn’t really have a purpose for coming in here, but I just didn’t want to be so near to my family’s cabin or the town around it, so I came here. I tried to keep myself busy by looking around at whatever there was on the shelves, but nothing appealed to me. My stomach started growling and I knew I had to find something. Especially since I wasn’t planning on heading back to the cabin anytime soon. There was a shelf filled with bags of chips and a couple of other snack foods so I picked up two bags of chips, a pack of spearmint gum, and a Snapple. Heading to the register, to pay for my stuff, I looked over and almost dropped all my stuff.
Demi’s POV:
Joe had a lot of nerve putting me with Nick in this little “search party.” Especially after me being with Nick is what caused all this drama in the first place. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how wrong I was and understood why Miley was so upset. It’s a tough thing to find out that you’re being cheated on. And especially when your boyfriend is cheating on you with your “best friend.” I just wish I had realized this sooner. Before all this drama and heartbreak happened.
Nick’s POV:
It was really awkward walking with Demi but I tried to do my best to make it not so awkward. “Dems?” I quietly called out. She stopped walking, I did too, and looked at me. “Yeah?” I took a deep breath. “Do you think Miley is going to be okay?” I asked, really worried about her. She gave me a sad smile and shrugged her shoulders. “I hope so.” Things went back to being quiet and I spoke up again. “I really do love her. I wasn’t just saying it.” Demi nodded her head at me. “I know, Nick. But no matter how much you may have loved her, it still wasn’t enough to prevent you from cheating on her.” Even though those words made my heart shatter, I knew they were true. What I did to Miley was awful and would probably cause permanent damage to her. And even if she didn’t want to be with me, in a relationship way, I hope that she would still want me in her life as a friend. At least.
Joe’s POV:
After sending Demi and Nick off on their own to search for Miley, I also headed off, determined and motivated to find her. Knowing Miley, she wouldn’t go any place where it would be easy to find her. I had to think out the box… I remembered, on the drive up here, right before we got to Averill, where the Cyrus’ cabin was located, we passed a small town called Bloomfield. Since it was so close to where we were staying, and easily within walking distance, I figured it might be worth it to take a look there. I wouldn’t lose anything by trying.
It took all of 10 minutes to get into Bloomfield. I was pretty grateful that it was so close, even though I was willing to walk 600 miles just to find Miley and be able to hold her in my arms so I know she’s okay. I’d been looking around for a few minutes when I felt my stomach start growling. Thankfully, there was a small market right around the corner. Feeling around in my pockets, making sure my wallet was there, I walked into the market and looked around for something that caught my eye. And sure enough, something did.
Chapter Thirty
Miley’s POV:
I didn’t care that I dropped whatever it was that I was holding because Joe, the boy I really loved, was now standing in front of me and that was all that mattered. “You found me.” I said, stunned, that he was really here. “Of course I did.” He replied, playing with my hair. “You weren’t nearly as far away as I thought. That didn’t matter though, I was willing to look as long as it took until I found you.” “Do you really mean that Joe?” I still couldn’t believe it. Was it possible for someone to care about me as much as Joe claimed to? The only person in my life who has ever cared about me is Demi. And seeing as she was willing to go around with my ex boyfriend, behind my back, while he and I were together, and didn’t feel enough guilt to tell me about it, I wasn’t too sure
that she cared about me. But Joe, ever since we first met, he would do little things that made me feel special and he’d go out of his way to make me laugh when I needed it. He’d always cared, I just never took the time to appreciate it.
Nick’s POV:
“Nick, can we please talk?” Demi broke the short silence that had just occurred. I pretended I didn’t hear her and kept on walking. She reached out and pulled on my shoulder, pulling me back towards her. “Please, Nick. It’s really important.” She sounded desperate and I didn’t want to be a total dick to her. I sighed and gestured towards a park bench that wasn’t too far away from where we were standing. She lead the way and I followed not too far behind.
Demi’s POV:
I didn’t know the best way to approach this situation, but I was willing to try. Angling my body, so I was facing Nick, I took one of his hands in mine and started talking. “Nick, I know we agreed that we wouldn’t do anything because it’s clear we fucked with Miley and Joe’s heads. But, I’d be lying if I told you I could go on without you. You’ve become a part of me and I know our relationship didn’t start for the right reasons and the stuff we did damaged out best friend, our brother, and our boyfriend/girlfriend, but it’s clear they’re going to be pissed at us no matter what. So if they’re pissed at us for going around behind their backs, why would we stop doing it. It’s not like by us stopping, we can take away what’s already done. All the damage that’s been caused. Our relationship may not have been started for the right reasons but it kept going for the right one… We’re in love.”
Joe’s POV:
I bought Miley a new bag of chips and a drink, to replace the ones she had dropped earlier and walked her to a nice picnic table where she could eat her snack. We were talking and enjoying each other’s company, when I noticed she was shivering. “You’re not the smartest one around, Miss Miley.” I joked. She reached across the table and playfully slapped me on the chest. “You’re a jerk!” She joked. I pretended to be offended. “Is that any way to talk to the person who was considering giving you a jacket to keep you warm?” Her eyes widened and she jumped up from her seat and ran over to the other side of the table, where I was sitting, and plopped down next to me. “May I please have your jacket, Joey? I promise, I’ll be nice.” I shrugged my jacket off my body and placed it on
Miley. Immediately, I could tell she was warming up. “Better?” I asked. She looked up at me and nodded her head. When she looked at me, I could feel her beautiful blue eyes pulling me in. I had no control over what I was doing, it was like holding a magnet up against a fridge; no matter how hard you tried to stop the two from coming together, it was almost impossible because both had minds of their own.

Chapter Thirty-One
Miley’s POV:
No time was wasted in going from the picnic bench back to my family’s cabin. Joe picked me up from the bench, threw me over his shoulder, and ran up the giant hill that the cabin sat on top of. He flung the door open and almost immediately slammed it shut, running up the stairs and in to the room where he and Demi were staying. It was the bed both he and I were used to sleeping on so we figured it would be more comfortable for both of us. Just as Joe was hovering above me, positioned so he could enter inside me at any given moment, reality hit me and I realized what was about to happen. “Joe, wait.” I whispered, seconds before he entered. “Is everything okay, baby?” He sounded worried. I took the sheets and used them to cover my chest before sitting up. “I’m not
ready for this, just yet. I just got out of a relationship that turned out to be a lie and I’m too scared to trust anyone just yet. Please don’t hate me.”
Nick’s POV:
I almost started choking on my saliva. “W-what?!” “I said, we’re in love, silly.” She repeated herself, as if I hadn’t heard her the first time. “Love’s sort of a big word, Dems. And I know we fooled around and stuff in the past but
I wouldn’t really call what we have ‘love.’” I could tell she was hurt by what I said but I felt bad about leading her on and making her think I love her when, in all honesty, I’m not even sure what love is. I’d like to believe what Demi and I had was love but I think, more than anything, it was lust and sexual frustration. I wanted to say more to Demi but she had gotten up and was storming away before I had the chance to.
Demi’s POV:
I heard Nick yelling for me to wait up but I didn’t want to. I couldn’t. If I did that, he would think it was okay to rip my heart out and two minutes later, I would forget all about it and we could move on and act like it never happened. Keep walking Demi, keep walking. I tried to convince myself but it wasn’t working; I gave in and faced Nick. “What do you want, Nicholas?! You didn’t hurt me enough?” I was so angry and I refused to hold anything back now. “Demi, you didn’t let me finish…” Briefly, I glanced up at him and I could tell there was something he really wanted to tell me. “Make it quick.” I ordered. He took a deep breath and continued talking. “Demi, just because I said I don’t think we’re in love, it doesn’t mean I’m not willing to start a committed relationship with you so we can watch the feelings we have for each other turn in to love.” Tears were on the verge of pouring out of my eyes. “Do you really mean that?” I couldn’t help but smile. “Of course I do. But only if you’re willing to make it work with me.” He whispered before gently kissing me on the lips.
Joe’s POV:
I gently stroked Miley’s cheek. “I could never hate you, Miley. If you’re not ready, you’re not ready. I can wait as long as you’d like until you’re comfortable. I love you Miley and you‘re worth waiting for” I meant every word I
said to Miley. Out of all the girls I’d been with in my life, she was the most special and I would wait forever if that’s what she wanted because when we did do it, I wanted to make sure we weren’t having sex. I wanted to make sure we would be making love because that’s what she deserves.

Chapter Thirty-Two
*Later, when everyone is back at the cabin*
Miley’s POV:
The four of us were all sitting in the rec room and it felt so awkward! There was a lot of tension, obviously, and it was clear no one wanted to be the first to step up and admit it. I decided I would be the annoying one and bring up the subject. “Guys, it’s obvious we need to talk about what’s going on but it’s clear no one wants to start the topic so I will. Clearly, there’s been some unfaithfulness going on. I’m not sure for how long but I do know that it’s causing a lot of drama and problems on this trip right now. And I’m not trying to sound selfish or anything but I came here to relax, not deal with drama so I think we all need to just talk about what has been going on.”
Demi and Nick’s POV:
There was an awkward silence in the room because neither of us wanted to speak up and admit what we had done. It was obvious Miley and Joe already knew what the deal was but that still didn’t change the fact that we were too scared to actually admit what we had done. We knew Miley was already beyond damaged and us admitting it would obviously damage her even more. Our plan was to just sit quietly and wait until Miley gave up and went back to doing whatever it was she was doing before. It sounded mean but so was breaking her heart.
Joe’s POV:
The tension in this room was unbearable! Obviously Demi and Nick were too selfish and caught up in their “love” to have some respect for anyone but themselves. I could tell it was really getting to Miley. I just wanted to pick
her up and carry her to her room, and hold her all night long, telling her everything would be okay. She deserved a better best friend than Demi and a much better boyfriend than Nick. Getting up off the couch and walking towards Miley, I wrapped my arms around her. “Miles, it’s obvious they don’t wanna talk so we can’t force them. Why don’t we go upstairs and we can watch a movie or something.” I knew that wouldn’t make her forget what had gone on but I hoped it would help. She smiled and nodded her head. Just as we were about to walk out of
the room, a voice stopped us. “Wait…”

Chapter Thirty-Three
Miley’s POV:
“Just ignore it and keep walking, Miley.” Joe whispered in my ear. He had his hand on my back and was trying to gently push me out of the room. “Miley, please. It’s important.” I turned around and saw Nick staring down at his hands. Reluctantly, I walked over to the couch I was sitting on before and sat down on it. “Make it quick.” I snapped. You could tell Joe wasn’t happy that I gave in and was listening to Nick but I figured that, in the off chance, he said something important, I should probably listen. “Okay. In all honesty, I don’t know how to say this, but I’m going to do the best job I can.”
Demi’s POV:
I wanted to throw myself on top of Nick and clamp his mouth shut. But I knew I couldn’t. What he was going to say had to be said, whether I liked it or not. So I just let him talk, well aware of how crushing it would be to hear him come out and admit what was going on.
Nick’s POV:
“For a while now, Demi and I have been going around behind you and Joe and hooking up. When it first started, we thought it was gonna be an innocent little fling that could easily end but, obviously, that isn’t how it went. But Miley, you knew, from day one, how I felt about Demi. That’s the whole reason you and I started dating, right? To make her jealous.” Miley’s eyes widened, so did Joe’s. Alright, so maybe that wasn’t the best way to start off this conversation but I was trying to be as honest as possible. “I know it’s a sensitive subject, but it’s the truth. As much as I wanted to and as hard as I tried, I just couldn’t get my feelings for Demi to stop. I’d always cared to much about her for me to just stop liking her altogether.” I stopped talking and glanced over at Miley. Her beautiful smile was no longer on her face. Instead, there was this hurt look on her face. And her eyes… That was the hardest thing to look at. Her beautiful oceanic blue eyes were now cloudy and filled with tears. I lifted
myself out of the couch I was sitting on and walked over to her and sat down next to her. “But even though I love Demi and what I did was wrong… I still love you too.” Miley got up from the couch, looked down at me with the most angry look I’d ever seen before and in a bitter voice, she spoke. “Yeah, well… I don’t love you.” And then she stormed out of the room, Joe following closely behind.
Joe’s POV:
When I saw Miley run out of the room, I ran right after her. What she’d just heard was obviously upsetting her and I knew she was gonna need a shoulder to cry on. I would be that shoulder. She walked up into her parents room and sat on the bed. I sat next to her and wrapped my arms around her, holding her as she let it all out.
“Just ignore it and keep walking, Miley.” Joe whispered in my ear. He had his hand on my back and was trying to gently push me out of the room. “Miley, please. Chapter Thirty-Four
*A few days later, things are starting to become less awkward at the
cabin*
Miley’s POV:
I was sitting in the rec room, watching TV when I heard the front door open and close. That meant Demi, Nick, and Joe had just gotten back from lunch. They invited me to come along but I didn’t want to be around Nick. We hadn’t spoken since the other day and I think it was safe to say we were avoiding each other. “Baby, we’re back!” Joe yelled. “I know!” I smiled and yelled back. Joe plopped down next to me and rested his head on my shoulder. I stroked his hair, while continuing to watch Jersey Shore. I couldn’t help but notice how long his hair was getting. Pressing my lips against his ear, I whispered. “Your hair’s getting long again. I like it, it’s sexy.” Joe lifted his head up and looked at me with a sexy grin on his face. He leaned in to kiss me but I quickly got up from the couch and started walking towards the stairs. “Where are you going?” Joe whined, clearly not happy about me leading him on like that. “I’m hitting the slopes today. Since we got here, we’ve barely done any skiing and I need to get out of
this house. You’re welcome to join me if you’d like.” I shouted, as I walked up each step. He didn’t say anything so I took that to mean it would just be me but then I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist as I was standing in front of the door to my parent’s room. This time it was Joe who was whispering in my ear. “I’d love to join you.” He winked and then spun me around, attempting to lean in and kiss me. Figuring it would be a little more fun to tease him, I turned my head so he made contact with my cheek. “Hey! That’s not fair.” Joe whined again. “Joseph, if you can’t be a good boy and stop whining, I’m gonna make you stay home.” I said in a stern tone, obviously joking though. “No ma’am, I’ll be good. I promise.” I nodded my head and laughed. “Good. Now come on, I wanna get some serious skiing done today.”
Joe’s POV:
“For the hundredth time, Joseph, just push off and let gravity do the rest!” Miley shouted, from the bottom of the mountain. “I’m too scared though. What if I fall?” I asked. I wasn’t trying to be difficult, I’d never done this be for.
“Oh for God’s sake, there’s three year olds going faster than you!” It was true. I’d been standing at the top of the bunny slope for a good 10 minutes now. And in that 10 minutes, at least 40 kids had gone past me. “You’re making me feel bad!” I yelled down to her, hoping it would get me some pity and she would let me turn around and not follow through with this. “I’m not letting you go, Joseph. So you can either come down the easy way… by yourself or I’ll come up there and bring you down myself. What’s it gonna be?” I tapped my finger against
my chin, pretending to think about it and just as I was about to give her an answer, I felt myself going down the hill. I started screaming like I was being attacked by someone, but before I knew it, I was at the bottom of the hill and everyone was clapping for me. I turned around and saw Miley standing where I was before. She winked and waved at me before making her way down as wellI fully planned on giving her the silent treatment but of course, she could make me change my mind in an instant. “You looked so sexy coming down that bunny slope and it was so hot hearing you moan.” She whispered into my ear. I was at a loss for words and could only manage to gulp. “Why don’t we take a break and get something to drink. You’re very red and you look like you could use a break. We can continue this later. How does that sound?” She was now talking normally. I think she realized what she was doing to me. I nodded my head and she took my hand and led me to the lodge which wasn’t too far from the mountain.
Demi’s POV:
“Can we please talk things out?” I asked, from the doorway to the rec room, where Nick was watching TV. Without pulling his eyes off the screen, he spoke. “Sure. What’s up?” I refused to compete with a television show so I stood in front of it, blocking Nick’s view. “Hey! I’m trying to watch TV here.” He whined. I backed towards the TV and shut it off manually. “And I’m trying to talk to you about what the hell is going on here. And I’m not competing with a show.” Nick sighed and reclined even more into the couch. “Alright, talk.” He said, no emotion in his voice. I walked over to him and sat down. He scooted farther away from me and looked down at his hands. “Stop being childish, Nicholas and talk to me.” “What’s there to say?” He asked. He sounded really depressed now and I felt kind of bad. Maybe now wasn’t the best time to force him to talk to me. But it was too late, I already had his attention.
Nick’s POV:
The conversation between Demi and I went much better than I thought. We realized that we had before was a bunch of sexual attraction and lust, not the love we thought it was. But we decided that, if it was okay with Joe and Miley, we wanted to try to have an actual relationship. The two of us were cuddled up on the couch, watching a movie, when we heard the door open and then close. We sprung up. “They’re home!” We yelled, together and ran out of the room to greet them.

Chapter Thirty-Five
Miley’s POV:
Hand in hand, Joe and I walked inside the cabin and ran into the rec room and sat in front of the fireplace so we could warm up. “That feels so good.” I looked up to see Joe rubbing his hands together and blowing on them. “Yeah, it does.” I agreed. “You know what would be even better?” Joe asked, after there was a brief silence. I looked at him, silently urging him to continue. “Having a campfire tonight. We can roast marshmallows and make s’mores. It would be really fun and I think it would help to put aside some of the tension going on in the house. What do you think?” I smiled and nodded my head. “I think that’s the perfect idea.” I whispered, before kissing Joe.
Nick’s POV:
After deciding it was safe, I took Demi’s hand, held it, and walked inside the room with her. Right before our very eyes was a “Joley” make out session that still killed me a little on the inside. It hurt a lot to see someone I care
so much about making out with my brother. I understand that I cheated on her and I didn’t ask her out for all the right reasons but it still didn’t change that fact that I was dying a little at a time when I saw them together. But I did the best I could to ignore it and sat on the couch opposite Joe and Miley, with Demi. I cleared my throat and they both looked up at me. Looking over to Demi, I nodded and she opened her mouth.
Demi’s POV:
I explained to Miley and Joe how Nick and I wanted to work things out and try to be a couple and surprisingly, they were understanding. Joe even told us about how he wanted to have a campfire so we could all hang out and be friends and couples. Things were looking up and boy, was I glad.
Joe’s POV:
“Maybe we shouldn’t have a campfire. I mean, they’re not safe and did you know 2,000 injuries each year are a result of a campfire.” I tried to get out of having to light the fire cause I was really scared. Miley, Nick, and Demi
started laughing hysterically. “Babe, don’t be a little boy and just light the match. I’m freezing out here.” I looked up and saw Miley sitting on a log wearing a pair of my pajama pants and one of my hoodies. She looked so
beautiful. “Okay Ms Tennessee… If you’re so brave, why don’t you light it?” I tried to be witty. She sprung up from the log, grabbed the match from my hand, and lit it with no problem. I couldn’t help but think to myself ‘God, she’s so daring and ballsy. I love her.’

Chapter Thirty-Six
*Two months later, February*
Miley’s POV:
It was pure torture being dragged around the mall with Demi. Normally, I loved shopping. Just not when it was for dances or other dressy occasions. Maybe I wouldn’t have minded shopping for this special event, in particular, so much if I wasn’t going with the cutest and most popular guy in school. That set the bar way higher than I was used to. I needed to look hot, but at the same time, classy and I was thankful I had Demi with me to help me find a dress that could do just that. “Come on Miley, we’ve only looked at six stores and neither one of us has a dress! We need to pick up the pace.” Demi called, over her shoulder, as I trailed behind, totally unmotivated. It was gonna be a long day.
Nick’s POV:
Joe and I walked around the rental tuxedo store, in hopes of finding outfits for this Saturday’s Valentine’s Day dance at school and so far, luck was not on our side. Who knew finding clothes for a school event could be so tough. I had to admit, part of the pressure came from me wanting to find the perfect tux so I could look good for Demi. She’d always dated older, cuter, and stronger guys than me and I didn’t want to fall short of her expectations. I needed to look amazing for my beautiful girlfriend.
Demi’s POV:
I dragged Miley into the seventh store of our shopping trip and almost passed out at how gorgeous all the dresses were. No two were alike and each was more beautiful than the next. First things first, finding Miley a dress. There were hundreds in here and each of them would look good on her but we had to wait until we found… “the one.” After searching what I thought was the whole store, I stumbled upon a small room that looked like no one had been in for years. This was good for me though because I ended up finding the most perfect dress for Miley and right next to it, the perfect dress for me. Success!
Joe’s POV:
An hour later, Nick and I left the store, each with a tux in our possession. Now we were at a diner not too far from the store, waiting for Demi and Miley to get here so we could all have our lunch date. I hadn’t seen
Miley in a day and I was missing her like crazy. I was so excited to see her again. I know it’s mushy and lovey dovey, but I really do love Miley, more than anything else in the world. My thoughts got interrupted when I felt a body slide next to me in the booth I was sitting in. I looked up and saw Miley, looking so cute with her hair pulled up in a messy bun. I kissed her cheek and handed her a menu. “Thanks, babe.” I nodded my head. A few minutes went by and then Nick spoke up. “So, how was dress sh-” He could barely finish his sentence before Demi and Miley both responded at the same time, “Tiring, but so totally worth it! We’re gonna be the hottest girls at the dance, just wait and see.” I chuckled and reached for Miley’s hand. “I don’t want you to be the hottest girl there, I want you to be the most beautiful.” On the other side of the bench, Nick and Demi were aww-ing and smiling, and I couldn’t help but laugh. Never did I think I would be the kind of guy who was so love-dove and wrapped up in a relationship but it’s amazing how much you can change when you love someone.

Chapter Thirty-Seven
*The night of the Valentine’s Day dance*
Miley’s POV:
“Miley, I’m sick of telling you this, sit still so I can finish curling your hair already.” Demi whined. I threw my head back and let out a long and loud groan. “I’m sorry, it’s just so boring!” Demi put down the curling iron and
looked at me. “Do you want to look good for Joe, or not?” Demi and I both knew that was a rhetorical question so she didn’t even wait before continuing. “That’s what I thought, now hold still.” She picked the curling iron back up and continued working on my hair. I folded my arms across my chest and pouted my lips. “I don’t want to! This is too much work for one stupid dance.” I whined. Demi gasped and then put the curling iron back down. “This is not a stupid dance. You take that back right now!” She demanded. I looked up at her and had to hold in the urge to laugh. Was she really freaking out because I didn’t think this dance was as important as she did? “You’re right, this is not a stupid dance and I take it back.” I tried to keep a straight face as I “apologized.” Demi and I both knew I wasn’t being sincere because it was a stupid dance, in my mind. But thankfully, Demi gave up and went back to doing my hair.
Demi’s POV:
After I finished helping Miley get ready, it was my turn. I was in a bit of a dilemma though because I didn’t know how I wanted my hair and makeup to look. I stood in front of the mirror, holding my dress in front of me, trying to get inspiration. Miley sat on my bed and watched me. She looked very confused. “I can’t decide what I want to do! This dress is so hot and I need to look equally hot to balance the equation. Without a word, Miley got up, plugged the curling iron back in, and pushed me into the stool that sat in front of my mirror. “Sit still, I’ll take care of everything.” She ordered, before getting right to work.
Nick’s POV:
Suit, check. Shaved, check. Condom, check. After going through the mini “checklist” in my head, and realizing I had everything, I did a quick check of my hair and then waited downstairs for Joe to finish getting ready. It seemed like it was taking him forever and I was beginning to get impatient. “Joseph, come on. We supposed to meet the girls in 20 minutes!” I yelled up the stairs. When there was no response, I hopped off the couch and walked down the hallway to Joe’s room. “ARE YOU ALMOST READY!?” I yelled, now standing in front of his
door. Once again, there was no response, but a few seconds later, the door opened and Joe walked out. “Let’s do this.” He winked and headed down the stairs.
Joe’s POV:
It wasn’t until we were at Demi’s house that my nerves kicked in. I was actually going to a dance with someone I truly cared about and was sure that I actually loved. Everything had to go perfectly tonight, it just had to. I figured if I kept telling myself this, over and over, it would help me to calm down but so far, I wasn’t having any luck. And before I knew it, my car was pulling into Demi’s driveway and it was time to go meet my beautiful date. I took in a deep breath and walked to the door with Nick. This was it. Slowly, the door opened and I saw Miley standing in front of me. She looked stunning and there was no doubt that she is the most beautiful woman on the face of the earth. “You ready?” I asked. She nodded and I extended my hand towards her so she could grab onto it. I escorted her towards the car and helped her get into her seat, Nick did the same with Demi and then we were off.

Chapter Thirty-Eight
*During the dance*
Miley’s POV:
Demi and Nick went their own separate ways from me and Joe, which was fine with us. That meant we could have more time together which was always nice. We started off by walking around and saying hi to Joe’s friends, which seemed like every single person in the whole room! That was one of the things that I loved the most about Joe, that even though he was popular, he wasn’t a snotty popular person. If he was walking in the hallway, he would smile at and say hi to every person he walked by, no matter what they looked like or what “group” they fell in. I didn’t want to be in the way so I gently pulled away from Joe’s side and took a seat at a nearby table. It was nice to just have a moment to myself and do some people watching. The DJ for the evening spoke into his microphone, “Alright, I’m gonna slow things down so go find your special someone and get on the dance floor for the first slow song of the evening.” I looked around for Joe, but he was no where to be found. It didn’t bother me though, I just figured I would take this time to observe what was going on around me. The slow music began to play and I didn’t recognize it at all. Curious, I looked up and over to where the DJ was and saw Joe standing right next to him. “This first slow song is something our very own, Joe Jonas wrote and he wants me to play it, and
dedicate it to his girlfriend. I don’t feel right doing the dedication though so here he is to do it himself. Everyone give it up for Joe Jonas!” Joe took the mic and looked out into the crowd. “Hi guys. As DJ Cool Tunes mentioned, I wrote a song for my amazing and beautiful girlfriend, which she had no idea about until now and I know he said this was the first slow dance of the night but if it’s alright with you guys, I was kind of hoping we could have this dance to ourselves…” Everyone started clapping and cheering, and there was even whistling going on. I felt myself turning red, and got even more red when Joe was standing in front of me. “Miley, may I have this dance?”
Demi’s POV:
I know this is going to make me sound like an awful friend but I almost threw up at the sight in front of me. Why were Miley and Joe so adorable together?! And it seemed like they were always doing fun things. I mean, come on, he wrote her a song and it’s playing while they’re having their first official slow dance as a couple together. That just was not fair. Don’t I deserve a song too?!
Nick’s POV:
Sometimes I hated having Joe as a brother. He was such a softie and very romantic when it came towards a girl he really loves and that was hard to compete with. Especially when my current girlfriend used to be his girlfriend. But I couldn’t say that I was not happy for my brother. It was obvious, just by watching him dance with Miley, that he really does care for her and possibly even love her. Yeah it was hard seeing Miley with another guy, but I had to learn to accept it because in the end, her happiness is what matters the most to me.
Joe’s POV:
All eyes were on me and my beautiful girlfriend and I was loving it. She looked stunning and that smile on her face was all I needed to see. Slowly, our song came to an end and our little moment was over but I didn’t mind; I knew we would have many more in the future. After our song was over and the DJ went back to playing house and dance music, Miley took me by the hand and lead me to the courtyard, outside. At first, it was quiet and neither of us spoke, but a few minutes later, Miley opened her mouth. “Joe…” She whispered. I looked up at her
and smiled. “Yes, baby?” She took my hands in hers and looked me right in the eyes. “I love you, Joe. I really, truly love you.” Instantly, I got butterflies and did the best I could to play it cool. That was hard to do though, so very
hard. Mentally slapping myself in the face and snapping myself out of the alternate world I was living in, with just me and Miley, I looked right at her, into those beautiful blue eyes and spoke to her. “I love you too, Demi.”

Chapter Thirty-Nine
Miley’s POV:
“Miley, please, I don’t know why I said that! Will you please talk to me and give me a chance to explain?!” I stopped running for a moment, long enough to let Joe catch up to me. Just as he did, he was about to open his mouth and say something, but I slapped him. Right across the face, silencing any words that were about to leave his mouth. Judging by the sound it made, the stinging feeling I had in my hand, and the sound Joe made after it happened, I would guess I had made a pretty strong hit. Good, it served him right for calling me the wrong name. Without another word, I turned around and walked away. Trying not to look too upset, I walked back into the room where everyone else was on the dance floor, having an amazing time, and sat at a table in the far back corner.
Demi’s POV:
While I was dancing with Nick, I couldn’t help but notice Miley come running in and how upset she looked. Nick looked at me and whispered, “Go talk to her.” I nodded my head and walked towards her while Nick went to go get himself something to drink. Taking a seat next to Miley, she immediately fell into my arms and started sobbing. I just held her and rubbed her back. I didn’t know what had happened to her, but I wanted her to be okay.
Nick’s POV:
I was on my way to get Demi and myself something to drink, when I got pulled out of the hall and into the Men’s bathroom. “WHAT THE FUCK? JOE…!?” I screamed. He looked at me and I could tell right away that he had been crying. “What’s wrong, bro?” I was trying to be as nice as I could. I didn’t want him to get even more upset. He put his face in his hands and leaned against a wall. “I messed up the best thing that ever happened to me.” He whispered. Unsure of what he was talking about, I walked over to him and gently placed a hand on his back.
“Why don’t you tell me exactly what happened and we’ll figure out a way to fix it?” I said. Joe looked up at me and shook his head. “No, it’s stupid. You’ll just make fun of me.” I let out a deep sigh. “Normally, that’s true. But,
today’s different. I really want to help make things better and I can’t do that unless you tell me what’s wrong.” “Fine…”
Joe’s POV:
Right after I told Nick what went down, he was on board to help me do whatever it would take to get Miley to forgive me. We ran to the reception hall that was traditionally used for weddings and Nick sat down at a drum set, while I grabbed a guitar from the far back corner and sat at a table. “Alright man. Just let it all out…” So that’s exactly what I did and 30 minutes later, we had a song.

Chapter Forty
Miley’s POV:
“Can we get out of here, Dems? I’m too heartbroken to be surrounded by all these happy idiots.” I whispered, just loud enough for Demi to hear. She nodded her head, and then helped me get up from the chair I was sitting at. We were on our way to the door when I heard Joe’s voice talking through a microphone. “Hi everyone. I know that like an hour ago I was up here singing a song to my beautiful girlfriend and everyone was happy and perfect and beautiful, but then I screwed up. I made a stupid mistake that really hurt Miley’s feelings and she doesn’t want to talk to me. If I was her, I’d probably be making a run for the door right now, but before you go, Miley, please…” He trailed off, and then looked up, directly at me, with a look of concern and sadness in his eyes.
“Please stay for three minutes and let me sing you one more song. After that, if you still want nothing to do with me, I’ll understand. All I’m asking for is three minutes. Please?” Now Joe wasn’t the only one looking at me; everyone else in the room was as well. I guess I had no choice but to stay. I nodded my head at him and he smiled. The music began, and then Joe started singing.
(Waiting for a girl like you)
The light shines
It's getting hot on my shoulders
I don't mind, this time it doesn't matter
Cause your friends,
They look good but you look better
Don't you know all night
I've been waiting for a girl like you to come around, round, round
Under the lights tonight
Turned around, and you stole my heart
Just one look, and I saw your face
Fell in love
Take a minute girl,
Steal my heart tonight
Just one look, yeah
I'm waiting for a girl like you
I'm weaker
My worlds fall and they hit the ground
All life come on here
Don't you fail me now
I start to say
I think I love you but I make no sound
Oh cause all of my life I’ve been
waiting for a girl like you to come around
Under the lights tonight
Turned around, and you stole my heart
Just one look, and I saw your face
Fell in love
Take a minute girl, steal my heart tonight
Just one look, yeah
I'm waiting for a girl like you
There is no other place that I would rather be
Right here with you tonight
As we lay on the ground
I put my arms around you
And we can stay here tonight
There’s so much I wanna say
I wanna say
Under the lights tonight
Turned around, and you stole my heart
Just one look, and I saw your face
Fell in love
Take a minute girl, steal my heart tonight
Under the lights tonight
Turned around, and you stole my heart
Just one look, and I saw your face
Fell in love
Take a minute girl, steal my heart tonight
Just one look, yeah
I'm waiting for a girl like you
I'm waiting
for a girl like you
The music stopped, Joe looked at me, smiled, and then walked off the stage. I was at a loss for words, and didn’t know what to do. I looked over to Demi for a sign of what I should do and she smiled at me. “Go get him.” She whispered. So that's exactly what I did.
Joe’s POV:
I was about to head out because there was really no point in me sticking around the dance, when Miley appeared by my side, and whisked my into the room where Nick and I had written Stole My Heart. “Miles, what are we doing in here?” I asked, getting nervous. She didn’t answer me, and just made her way over to the piano.
Everybody needs inspiration,
Everybody needs a song.
A beautiful melody,
When the night's so long.
Cause there is no guarantee,
That this life is easy.
Yeah when my world is falling apart.
When there's no light to break up the dark,
That's when I, I, I look at you.
When the waves are flooding the shore,
and I can't find my way home anymore.
That's when I, I, I look at you.
When I look at you,
I see forgiveness,
I see the truth.
You love me for who I am,
Like the stars hold the moon,
Right there where they belong.
and I know I’m not alone.
Yeah when my world is falling apart,
When there's no light to break up the dark,
That's when I, I, I look at you.
When the waves are flooding the shore,
and I can't find my way home anymore,
That's when I, I, I look at you.
You, appear just like a dream to me.
Just like kaleidoscope colors,
That cover me,
All I need,
Every breath that I breathe,
Don't you know you're beautiful!
Yeah
When the waves are flooding the shore,
and I can't find my way home anymore,
That's when I, I, I look at you.
I look at you.
Yeah, Woah.
You, appear just like a dream to me.
When she finished her song, I was at a loss for words. I didn’t know what to do, so I stood up and clapped. She got up from the bench and came over to me. I took her face in my hands and whispered to her, while looking into her beautiful blue eyes. “I love you so much Miley. I don’t know why I said that before, but I promise you, I didn’t mean it. The only girl in this world that I love is you, and nothing will ever change that. I hope you can forgive me for the stupid name mistake. And if you don’t, I understand. But I want to thank you for the beautiful song. It really meant the world to me.” I continued staring in Miley’s eyes, waiting for her to speak… She finally did. “Joseph, I understand why you called me Demi. She was your second girlfriend and you really cared about her.
It’s not like you can totally get over your feelings for her right away. I understand that and I’m not going to remain angry at you for such a silly thing. Those two songs you sung for me were absolutely beautiful and I’m the luckiest girl in the world. I love you.” Then, she leaned in and kissed me, and I knew everything was alright.
“Can we get out of here, Dems? I’m too heartbroken to be surrounded by all these happy idiots.” I whispered, just loud enough for Demi to hear. Chapter Forty-One
*Three years later - At Nick’s graduation*
Miley’s POV:
Joe’s car pulled into the parking lot and he ran out and over to my door so he could help escort me out. Right after the two of us got out, Frankie and Noah came out from the back of the car and ran off to the bleachers. “Do you think we should run after them to make sure nothing happens?” Joe asked me while taking my hand and going off into the direction of the bleachers. I stop walking and pointed to my stomach. “Um, I’m pregnant, remember?” Joe chuckled and I couldn’t help but laugh too. “Of course I remember. That’s our baby in there.” He
whispered, as he gently rubbed my stomach. I admired Joe as he stood there, “playing with” our baby. It was obvious that he was going to be a great father. “Come on babe, let’s go find Noah and Frankie or else we’ll never get a good spot and our parents will kill us for losing our little siblings.” We walked off to the bleachers together and found the perfect spot, right in the center, with a perfect view of the football field, where the graduation was being held. Once we were settled in our seats, I turned to Joe. “Babe, how about you give your parents a call and tell them we found a perfect spot and we’ve saved the two of them, your four grandparents, Kevin, Dani, and
Demi spots?” “Yes dear.” He walked away and made his phone call, coming back a minute later. “That was quick.” I was shocked. As much as I love Denise, that woman could talk. “I know. Well Mama J is under a lot of pressure so I just made it short, sweet, and to the point.” I nodded my head and checked the time - 6:30. The graduation was due to start in an hour and the huge crowd of people was now starting to arrive.
*After the graduation, at the Jonas house, for a BBQ and pool party*
Nick’s POV:
Wow, I actually did it! I graduated from high school, and it feels great. The one thing I wasn’t so crazy about though was all the congratulations I was getting from people. I never liked being the center of attention, but oh well. Right now, I was talking to my mom’s boss. Why he was here is beyond me, but he was, and we were talking. I glanced around the room and saw Demi sitting by herself in the far corner of the living room. “Would you excuse me?” I politely asked the boss. “Of course, Nicholas. This is your party, you must go mingle with all the other people here. Not just me.” “Thank you.” I walked away from him and over to Demi. “Hey beautiful.” I whispered into Demi’s ear, while wrapping my arms around her. She jumped a little and I thought it was the cutest thing ever. “Hey you.” She turned around and pressed her lips to mine. I pulled away for a moment and looked at her. God, she was so beautiful. “I have a surprise for you later tonight.” I whispered. “Eeep! Really? What is it?!” I pressed my finger to her lips to quiet her. “You’ll just have to wait to find out.” I winked and then walked away, greeting my other guests.
Demi’s POV:
Since Nick told me he had a surprise for me, I couldn’t stop thinking about what it could be. I needed to find Miley and see what her thoughts were but she was no where to be found downstairs. That could only mean one thing… She was in Joe’s room. I ran up the stairs to the last door on the right and knocked. I could hear talking from the other side of the room. “Who is it?” Miley yelled, I could tell she was laughing. Oh god, what if they’re doing “things” in there? Maybe I should just go back downstairs and come back later. “It’s Demi.” I whispered. “Dems! Come on in.” Joe yelled, also laughing. Nervously, I opened the door and walked in to see the two of them sitting on Joe’s bed, watching dumb videos on the internet. “Oh thank God, you’re both wearing clothes.” They
must have thought I was joking because they laughed, but I was serious. Miley closed the laptop and sat up. “So what’s up, Dem?” I walked over to Joe’s desk and sat at his rolling chair. Joe also sat up and rubbed Miley’s belly. “Well I was talking to Nick before and he told me he has a surprise for me but I have to wait until later to get it. Do either of you have any idea what it is?” I looked at Miley. “Sorry Dems, I have no idea.” I nodded my head and then we both looked at Joe. “What are you two looking at me for?” Joe tried to play dumb. “Spill it, mister.” Miley demanded. Joe shook his head. “Sorry ladies, but it’s Nick’s surprise, not mine. You both will just have to wait to find out.” “You’re no help!” Miley joked before playfully slapping him on the stomach.
Joe’s POV:
“I refuse to tolerate this abuse and rudeness from you, Miley.” I pretended to be mad and rolled over on my side so I was now staring at the wall. I felt Miley place her hands around me and roll me so I was now facing her again. She bent down and gently kissed me. I rolled us over so I was now hovering above her and I just took in her beauty. Even at 17 years old, with a baby on the way, she was the most beautiful woman in the world. And she’s all mine. “Well, I’d love to stay and watch this yuck fest, but I think I’m gonna go downstairs and have some of the delicious cake and desserts that Mrs. Jonas worked so hard to prepare for us. Too bad your tongues are so far down each other’s throats that you won’t get to enjoy the delicious chocolate.” She walked out of the room and
Miley almost immediately pushed me off of her. “Baby, what’s wrong?!” I was truly worried that something bad was happening. She grabbed my hand and ran towards the door. “She said chocolate!” I tugged her hand and made her stop in the doorway. “Oh, Miles. You’re something else. I love you.” She got up on her tiptoes and kissed me. “I love you too, Joey. And so does out baby.” When I heard her say, our baby, I couldn’t help but smile. I was counting down the days until OUR baby was born and it didn’t feel like that could happen soon enough.
Chapter Forty-Two
Miley’s POV:
I walked over to the dessert table that Denise had worked so carefully to set up and stared at the assortment of amazing treats in front of me, debating which to take first. When I turned around and saw that there was no one behind me, I filled two plates up with different treats for me and the baby and snuck up to Joe’s room so I wouldn’t have to eat all this in front of people. Twenty minutes later, after being covered in crumbs, I pushed myself off of Joe’s bed, wiped myself off, and made my way towards his door. Just as I was about to, the door flung open and Joe was standing right in front of me. I looked into his eyes and felt myself get weak at the knees, like I did when I first began to fall for him. He walked towards me and stopped. “You got a little…” he trailed off and then reached towards my face, and wiped my mouth. I put my hands on his cheeks, and pulled his face towards mine, connecting our lips.
Joe’s POV:
In a matter of seconds, I went from having my lips pressed against Miley and pressing my body against her growing stomach, to being yanked down the stairs. Normally, I would be pissed at Nick for interrupting such a sweet moment but today was different. Very different.
Nick’s POV:
“Okay, that’s enough! You two can make out later. Right now, I need to borrow Joe.” I pulled “Joley” apart, and dragged Joe downstairs. “Sorry to interrupt and pull you away from your girlfriend, and baby mama, but as you know, I have something kind of important to do.” Joe nodded his head. “For the next five minutes, I’m all yours.”
Demi’s POV:
I was in the middle of talking to one of Nick’s cousins, when Nick appeared. “Would it be okay for me to borrow you for just a minute, babe?” He looked back and forth between me and his cousin. I nodded. “It was nice talking to you, Demi.” She smiled and then walked away. “You too, Melissa.” I called after her. Nick grabbed my hand and lead me outside, to the backyard, where a piano had been brought in. “Nick…What’s going-” He cut me off before I could finish my sentence. “Just trust me.” He snapped his finger, and then Robert, the family’s butler, came running out with a chair in his hand and placed it next to the piano, before running off. Nick walked over to the piano bench and sat down, while Joe, stood next to the piano with a guitar. “Demi, this one’s for you.”
On the days I can’t see your eyes,
I don’t even want to open mine.
On the days I can’t see your smile,
Well I’d rather sit, wait the while.
For the days I know you’ll be near,
‘Cause a day without you, it just isn’t fair.
See the days I can hear your voice,
I’m left without a choice.
Plus I get week in the knees,
Fall head over heels baby,
And every other cheesy cliché.
Yes I’m swept off my feet,
Oh my heart skips a beat,
But there’s really only one thing to say:
God damn, you’re beautiful
To me, you’re everything,
Yeah that’s beautiful, yes to me
I can’t find the words to explain,
Just how much you got me going insane
When you speak to me sometimes you’ll find
Oh, I stutter my words, and say never mind
‘Cause even when you just walk by
Well I look around to seem occupied
‘Cause I’m trying so hard to hide
Yeah, all of these feelings inside
Cause I get week in the knees,
Fall head over heels baby,
And every other cheesy cliché.
Yes I’m swept off my feet,
Oh my heart skips a beat,
But there’s really only one thing to say:
God damn, you’re beautiful
To me, you’re everything,
Yeah that’s beautiful, yes to me
Yeah you’re beautiful
Yeah you’re beautiful
God damn you’re beautiful
To me
To me.
When Nick finished singing, I wanted to start crying. He’s so cute and has such a way with words. He walked over to me and reached out his hand. “Demi, can you come with me for a minute?” I was speechless from the beautiful song, so I just nodded my head. In a matter of minutes, we were even deeper back in the Jonas’ backyard and I looked around, speechless at the beautiful scenery around us - The sun was beginning to set and the moon was becoming more and more visible. There was also a swing, just big enough to hold two people. I looked up at the sky, and admired how the colors all came together. “Isn’t it so beautiful?” I asked, before turning around to look at Nick. And when I did, there he was, on his knee, with a black box in his hand, and a shiny ring sticking out of it.

Chapter Forty-Three
Demi’s POV:
Nick took my hands in his and looked at me. “Demetria, from the moment I first laid eyes on you, I knew you were the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. You make me happier than any person in the world and you’re always there for me. You’re my best friend, and my girlfriend, and I hope, someday, you will be the mother to my children. But I don’t want us to just have children together, I want us to be a real family. So, that is why, I was wondering… Demetria Devonne Lovato, will you marry me?”
Nick’s POV
When she didn’t answer right away, I began to get nervous. Maybe this was a mistake. I mean, we were still young and we had our whole lives ahead of us but I was worried. Next year, Demi and I would be in different cities for school and the chances of her meeting some other, much more attractive guys were very high. Why would she want to marry me anyway? I was deep in thought when I felt myself hit the ground. I snapped out of it and saw Demi on top of me smothering me in kisses. “Yes! Yes! Yes!”
Miley’s POV:
Joe and I were up in his room, cuddling and watching Jersey Shore, our absolute guilty pleasure. The show went to a commercial and we looked into each others eyes and began leaning in when we heard yelling coming from downstairs. “SHE SAID YES!!!!” I pulled away from Joe and looked into his eyes. “Is Nick referring to what I think he’s referring to?” “If you mean Nick proposed to Demi and she said yes, then yes, he is referring to what you think he is.” I got up from the bed and ran downstairs.
Joe’s POV:
I ran down the stairs after Miley and saw her and Demi jumping up and down going “Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay!” It was great to see Miley so happy for her best friend being engaged to the first guy she ever loved. Thinking back on how confusing and complicated things were before with Miley and Nick, Nick and Demi, Demi and me, and me and Miley, I can’t help but get a headache although, I am extremely grateful because it got me the amazing girlfriend I have today who is carrying my child and I couldn’t have it any other way. I looked over at Miley again and noticed she was no longer jumping but instead hunched over and holding her stomach. I ran to her and took her in my arms. “BABY?! WHAT’S WRONG?!” She looked up at me and sort of
smiled. “Get ready to be a daddy… My water just broke.”

Epilogue - 5 months later
-Epilogue; 5 months later-
Miley gave birth to a 6 lb, 5 oz. baby boy named Andrew Joseph Jonas on Friday, June 15, 2012 (The day Nick graduated.) He’s now five months old and the pride and joy in Miley and Joe’s lives. Demi and Nick are the Godparents and love spoiling Andrew whenever possible. They moved in together to a cute little place in the upper East side of New York City. Tonight is their 3 year anniversary and to celebrate, they’re going out to dinner at one of New York’s finest restaurants. Little does Miley know that not only are they going to dinner.. Joe also has plans to propose. He knows that they have to wait at least until Miley gets out of high school but still wants to let her know he’s fully committed.
Demi and Nick are still going strong, and engaged, but are waiting until they both finish college and have jobs to get married. It’s already been decided
though that Miley is Demi’s maid of honor, and Joe is Nick’s best man. And little Andrew, who will be five or so at the time of the wedding will be the ring bearer. And by the looks of it, Andrew might not be an only child by the time the wedding rolls around. ;D
All in all, everyone got their own perfect, happy ending and that crazy, mixed up “love square” is no more. Or is it… Just kidding, it’s over! ;)
