Prologue
“Congratulations Ms Cyrus, you’re pregnant.” The doctor said to me. After hearing those words, I knew from then on, my life wouldn’t be the same. I was confused, scared, hurt, and alone. I knew that once I told the father of my child this news, he would want nothing to do with me. Whether I liked it or not, I was going to be a mom at 15 and I would have to do it all by myself.
Chapter One
5 Years Later
“Mommy, you have to wake up! I have school today!!” I heard a little voice yelling. I opened my eyes and saw a curly haired, brown eyed little boy looking back at me. “Good morning, baby.” I said with a smile on my face. “I’m not a baby anymore mama. I’m going to be in kinde garten!” He replied with a huge grin on his face. I could not believe how fast he was growing up. I was happy but at the same time nervous. Ever since his father, Josh, had left me, I always feared for who Nick would look up to. Who would play baseball and football with him in the backyard on the warm, Summer days? Who would give him advice on certain things? Who would be there for him to get him through things I couldn’t help him with? I was mostly worried about him not having a positive male influence in his life. I knew I could help him with some things but there is some stuff that onlya father can help his son with. I always tried my hardest to be the best mom I could be but it was not easy. I was barely 20 years old with a son and no one to help me out. My parents freaked out when I told them the news of me being pregnant with Nicholas. The only person I could count on was my best friend, Taylor Launter. He was always willing to help me when I needed it. Including today, to bring me and Nick to his first day of school and then he would take me to work at Baxter’s Bakery. I must have been in thought for a long time because the next think I knew there was a car horn honking which was the signal that Taylor was here and we had to go. Oh crap, I thought, I didn’t make breakfast for Nick. I threw on some clothes fast and ran downstairs only to be greeted by Nick and Taylor who were sitting at the table eating McDonalds. Taylor looks up at me and chuckles. “I know, I know, you’re so lucky to have me and you don’t know what you’d do without me.” Taylor says. “You got that right.” I reply and then go over to him and kiss his cheek. It’s true, I was lucky to have him. Taylor was the closest thing to a family Nick and I had. About five minutes later after I had eaten, we got in the car and headed off to Nick’s school. The car came to a stop, Nick’s door went flying open, and he was running towards the entrance. “NICHOLAS! Stop running so fast!” I yelled running after him. It was not use, Nick was excited and determined to get to his class. I immediately picked up my speed in an attempt to catch up with Nick before he got lost in the pool of kids. I heard footsteps behind me which caused me to turn my head and see Taylor who was now at my side running with me. We made our way into the school and found Nick’s class, Room 818. It was your average classroom, encouraging posters placed throughout the wall, tables of different colors with each students name marking that was their seat, a giant fish tank with fish of many different colors, and in the middle of the room, a enormous rainbow colored rug with the ABCs surrounding it. I looked around the room to see Nicholas playing with two little girls. He was going to be a lady’s man, just like his “father,” no questions asked. I smiled as I watched him interact with other children. This sight also brought tears to my eyes because it made me realize how quickly my little man was growing up. Taylor pulled me into a hug and told me everything was ok, he’s just growing up. I gave a small smile and nodded my head. I figured it was time to leave and let Nick start his first day. I said goodbye to him and began walking towards the door. Taylor grabbed my hand, intertwined our fingers, and made our way to the door so we could exit the classroom. As I was on my way out, I collided with someone. I looked up to be greeted by one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen.

Chapter Two
I felt myself hit the floor and seconds later, I felt the weight of a person on top of me. I looked up to see two light brown eyes staring at me. I felt my face get hot and my cheeks turn bright red. “Ah, hem.” I looked over to see Taylor who was staring at us with a strange look on his face. “Oh um, I should probably get off you now.” The mysterious man said. I nodded my head a little. He got off me and extended his hand to help me up. I gladly accepted it and slowly got back on my feet. I now got a better look at this gorgeous being in front of me. He was tall, about 5’10, he had short black hair, and a 5 o’clock shadow on his face. Whoever this guy was, I wanted to get to know him. We stared at each other for what seemed like forever until once again, we were interrupted by Taylor and his “coughing” noises. We both looked over to him and saw he was pointing at his watch, a sign that meant I needed to hurry up or we would both be late. I was a little upset that I didn’t have a chance to introduce myself or have a conversation with my mystery man. That would soon change, I was sure of it.
Chapter Three
It was now 9:30 and I was at work staring at the clock waiting until it was 12:00 and time for me to go pick up Nick from school. My coworker, Donna, could sense I was anxious and reassured me that everything would be ok. “I hope you’re right.” I muttered under my breath. “Trust me I am. The first day is always the hardest. It’s not easy to watch them grow up. Trust me, I know. Right now he’s just in kindergarten but before you know it, he’ll be off to college and getting ready to take on the world for himself.” Those words almost brought tears to my eyes. I didn’t want my baby boy to grow up! He couldn’t grow up because then once again, I’d be left by myself. I couldn’t bear to think of what it would be like to go through that again. I always hope that one day “Mr. Right” will come along and sweep me off my feet. I needed to have a good man in my life and so did Nick. He needed someone positive to look up to so that he will grow up to become a wonderful young man and nothing like his ass of a father. To my surprise, the day went by rather fast. Before I knew it, it was time to go pick up Nicholas. Taylor had an important meeting at work so I had to walk to pick him up. I didn’t mind it though, I’ve always been an outdoors person and loved fresh air. I walked down the long hallway to Room 818. I peered into the window on the doorframe and saw Nick sitting at a little table in a tiny chair drawing a picture. He looked so happy. I must say, one of the best things about being a mother is seeing your child happy. I quietly walked into the room without Nick noticing and covered his eyes with my hands. “Guess who?” I asked. He turned around and took my hands off his face and then yelled “MOMMMMMMY!” I gave him a kiss on his cheek. I looked around the room for his teacher so I could sign him out for the day. Suddenly, my eyes landed on the desk in the back right corner of the room. And who was standing in front of it but none other than Mr. Gorgeous himself.
Chapter Four
Confused and determined to get to the bottom of this, I walked over to his desk. “Well, hello there.” He said with a smile on his face. “Um, hi.” Was all I managed to get out. I was still in shock of his gorgeousness. I must have blanked out and stared at him for quite sometime because suddenly, there was a hand being waved in front of my face in an attempt to pull me from my thoughts and back to reality. I snapped back to attention to see Mr. Gorgeous smiling at me, again. “I don’t think I ever had a chance to formally introduce myself. I’m Mr. Joseph Jonas. The kindergarten teacher of this year.” “Well, hellooo Mr. Jonas.” I said. Oh crap, did I really just say that? He let out a small chuckle. Well, this is certainly awkward I though to myself. “So am I gonna get your name or will I have to find out the old fashioned way, creeping?” “My name? Oh right, sorry I’m a little out of it today. I’m Miley.” I said extending my right hand. “A beautiful name for a beautiful girl.” He said extending his hand as well. When our hands met, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I haven’t felt this way in
a while, this guy must be something special. After yet another few moments of awkward silence, Nick came running over to me. I bent down and placed a kiss on top of his head and in return, he wrapped his arms around my legs. “Oh, so you’re Nick’s sister!” Joe said. “Umm, not exactly. I’m his mother.” I replied.
You could tell he was embarrassed from how his face went from his beautiful tan color to a bright red. “I am so sorry. I just assumed since you’re so young that
you would be his sister. I hope I didn’t offend you.” He said. “Joe, it’s fine.” I reassured him. “Well Nick had an excellent first day. He spent the entire time
playing house with the girls in this class. You can tell he’s going to be quite a ladies man when he gets older.” Joe said. I smiled at his words. “Just like
his father.” I said quietly under my breath but still loud enough for Joe to hear. “His father? Oh you mean the man that came here with this morning? He
doesn’t seem like the ladies man type. He seems like a one girl kinda guy.” His words sunk into my head and I couldn’t help but laugh. Joe gave me the most
confused look ever. “I’m sorry, that was horribly rude of me to just laugh like that. That guy I was with is Taylor, my best and only friend. He’s not Nick’s
father. Nick’s father is, well, not in the picture anymore. Once he found out I was pregnant, he left and I haven’t seen or heard from him since.” Yet again, another silence filled the room. “I’m so sorry.” Joe said. I could tell he was sincere. “It’s fine Joe. You had no way to know. I’m used to it by now. Every time I go out with Nick and Taylor, people always tell me that I have the cutest little brother. Or that we look like such a happy family and that we belong in the Manwhich commercial. I’m not going to lie, at first it bothered me and I hated raising him alone but now I love it and wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.” I couldn’t believe myself. I barely knew this guy yet I was sharing some of my most personal information with it. I had to admit, it felt nice to have an actual conversation with someone, adult to adult. I liked the feeling of it. Nick must not have because as Joe and I talked, he came over to me, tugged on my hand, and said “Mommy, stop flirting, we have to go home now.” I looked over at Joe who was now looking down and turning a bright shade of red. I felt my face get hot as well. I knew I must have been extremely red. “Well, I better be going now. It was nice meeting you Joe. See you tomorrow.” I said taking Nick’s hand and heading for the door. “Good bye Mister Jonas!” Nick said with a huge grin on his face. “Bye Nick. Bye Miley.” Joe said adding in a wink at the end of his sentence.

Chapter Five
The car ride home was anything but quiet. Nick was full of questions and stories like always. I enjoyed our rides though because I loved hearing everything Nick had to say. He was such a funny kid. We were talking about the zoo, a place Nick and I love to go together when there was an awkward silence. I knew what this meant, Nick was deep in thought and about to ask me a serious question. “Mamma. How come all my friends have a mommy and a daddy but I only have a mommy?” I knew one day he would ask me this question but I never really stopped to think out what I would tell him when this time did come. “Well, baby, everyone has someone they are meant to be with. Sometimes, you meet that person and know right away that they are the one. But then there are times when you don’t meet that person right away and you have to meet a few people before you find ‘the one.’ It just so happens that your daddy was not the one for me. But that’s ok because even though things did not work out with him, I still have the most adorable little man on the planet.” I really hoped he would understand that. I could tell he was soaking in everything I just said because once again, the car got quiet. About two minutes later, Nick spoke again. “Mommy?” “Yes babe?” I said. “I think you are the most beautifullest lady on the planet and I know you will find your Prince Charming one day.” Nick said to me before closing his eyes and falling into a deep sleep. About twenty minutes later, I pulled my car into the driveway, got out of the car, went to Nick’s side, gently picked him up, and carried him into the house. For some reason, I did not want to sleep alone tonight so I carried Nick into my room and placed him in my bed. I looked at him for a few minutes and saw how peaceful he looked. It was little moments like these that made me feel like everything would be okay.
*Two Weeks Later*
(Nick is loving kindergarten and really loves Mr. Jonas. Each day, he shares stories about the fun stuff Mr. Jonas did with them. Miley loves seeing Nick so
happy and close to Mr. Jonas.)
It was now 12:30 which meant I was running late for picking up Nick. Who would think there would be such heavy traffic on the highway at 12:30 pm on a
Friday afternoon!? Didn’t these people have jobs to be at? I was freaking out that Nick would think that I forgot him or something. I got off at the exit of
Nick’s school and drove as fast as I legally could to get there. My car came screeching to a halt, I flung my car door open and hauled ass into the building.
I felt so bad that I was so late but I hoped Nick would understand. After what seemed like an eternity of walking down the hallway, I got to room 818 and saw
Nick and Joe building a city out of blocks. This was definitely a Kodak moment! I stood in the doorway smiling at how cute this sight was when Joe looked up at
me. Oh crap, I probably looked like a creeper! I tried to play it off like I wasn’t creeping or anything but it was clear by the color on my face that I had
been busted. Nick caught on that someone was standing there because he looked over at me, smiled, and ran to give me a GIANT hug. “Mommy! I thought you forgot about me.” “No silly, I could never forget about you! You’re too special.” I slowly walked over to Joe with Nick attached to my legs. “I am so sorry that I’m late. I couldn’t get out of work on time and then the highway was just ridiculous and I promise it will never happen again.” I said. “Miley, don’t worry, it’s fine. Nick and I had fun. Right little guy?” Joe said. “You got it dude!” Nick said with a huge grin on his face. “Alright sweetie, go get your backpack and pack and then we can go to McDonalds for some ice cream cones.” Those words barely left my mouth before Nick was literally flying across the room to pack up his stuff. I let out a small chuckle seeing how excited he got. Joe and I just looked at each other until Nick came back. Nick tugged on my shirt, a sign for me to bend down because he had to whisper something in my ear. I bent down and he quietly asked in my ear, “Mommy, is it okay if Mr. Jonas comes to have ice cream with us?” I whispered back, “Nick, I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. Joe, I mean Mr. Jonas probably has plans.” It was no use, Nick wanted Mr. Jonas to go with us and that was final. “Mr. Jonas?” Nick said with a sweet smile on his face. “Yeah bud?” Joe answered back. “Would you like to come get ice cream with mommy and me?” He said with a puppy dog face. Joe looked over at me and asked if that was okay with me. I told him it was fine and that it seemed like fun. It was settled, the three of us were going to get ice cream.

Chapter Six
Nick ran out of the door leaving me and Joe behind. We made our way out of the classroom and down to the car. On the way, our hands accidentally brushed against each other…twice. I went from feeling butterflies in my stomach to feeling sparks. I think Joe felt it too because after the second time our hands touched, he joined our hands together and intertwined our fingers. I looked up at him and blushed. “You’re really cute when you blush, you know that?” He said to me with the cutest smile ever. “Thanks,” I said turning even more red than before. We arrived at the car to see Nick had already put himself in his car seat. It amazed me how independent he could be at times. I got in on my side and Joe got in on the passenger side. “You ready to go get ice cream, babe?” I asked Nick. “YESSSSS!” He screamed back at me. I loved seeing him get so excited over little things. On the way there, Nick and Joe made small talk with each other while I focused on getting there. We arrived at the McDonalds and I got out and opened the door for Nick. Joe got out as well and walked over to the left side of the car, next to me and Nick. We began walking, with Nick in the middle. Before we crossed the street, Nick stopped us and said “Hold on, we have to hold hands and look both ways before crossing the street.” We listened to his orders and Joe and I each took one of his hands. We walked into the McDonalds and stood in line waiting our turn. “I will go save us a table.” Nick said before running to a booth near a TV. It was finally our turn and we placed our order. “Here ya go,” Said the waitress before giving us our desserts. “By the way, you two have the cutest son I’ve ever seen. He’s gonna grow up to be quite the heartbreaker.” I was too stunned to respond to her comment. You could tell Joe was too. Joe took his cone and I took mine and Nick’s and we quietly joined Nick at the booth of his choice. We ate our ice cream and Nick shared information with us about his day and other little facts. Everything was going great and we were all having a good time. Then Nick said, “Mr. Jonas?” “Yes Nick.” “My mommy told me that she hasn’t found her Prince Charming yet and I want her to be happy so will you please be her Prince?” I almost choked on my ice cream. I honestly was NOT expecting him to say that. But Joe’s response shocked me even more. “Your mommy is a very lovely lady and any Prince would be lucky to have her. You never know, maybe one day I will be her Prince.”
Chapter Seven
“Did you hear that mommy, Mr. Jonas says he is going to be your Prince Charming!!” Nick yelled. I felt my face get hot as I began to blush but I couldn’t help but smile. I wasn’t sure if Joe was just saying that to make Nick happy or if he was really feeling what I thought I might be feeling as well. Two weeks isn’t that much time to know someone but there were feelings there, I couldn’t deny that. And if you’ve seen Dear John, it only took two weeks for her to fall for him. But she ended up leaving John for someone else. Crap, well I would never leave Joe. I was pretty sure he wouldn’t leave me either. But you could never trust anyone 100%. I learned that the hard way when Josh left as soon as he knew I was pregnant. Everything was going great and we were all enjoying our ice cream. “Mommy, I have to use the bathroom.” Nick announced proudly. “Ok baby. It’s right down the hall. Don’t forget to was your hands with soap and water for 30 seconds when you’re done.” “I promise I will.” Nick said before running off to the bathroom. I continued eating my ice cream and I must have zoned out for a good two minutes because when I snapped back to reality, I heard Joe calling my name. “Miley? Miley? Mileey?” “Huh, oh sorry. What’s up Joe?” I asked him. “Well, I know it’s kind of sudden and all but I really like you and I was wondering if you wanted to grab dinner with me tomorrow (Saturday) night?” “Joe, that’s really sweet of you but…”
Chapter Eight
“You don’t wanna go out with someone like me. I get it.” Joe said as he pushed his chair back, got up from his seat, and started walking towards the door. “JOE, WAIT! You didn’t let me finish. I was going to say, I can’t commit to anything until I find someone who can watch Nick for the night.” I told him. “Oh,” Joe said looking down at the ground trying to hide that fact that he was embarrassed. “Joe, how could you think I wouldn’t want to go out with ‘someone like you?’ I think whoever ‘someone like you’ is an amazing guy that I really
want to get to know. If anything, I would think you wouldn’t want to go out with someone like me.” I told him because that is honestly what I hought. “Miley, how could you think that?! I think you’re one of the prettiest, funniest, coolest, most down to earth girl I’ve ever met. It’s an honor to be seen with you. This may sound crazy since we’ve only know each other for two weeks but I like you. And I don’t mean like you, I mean liiike you.” After he said those words, he gave me the cutest grin I’d ever seen. I had butterflies in my stomach, I liked Joe and Joe liked me. I didn’t have to take the first step, he said it on his own. And he already knew I had a son so there less of a risk in him leaving me because of that. I really like Joe and after all the sweet
stuff he just said to me, I knew he deserved a chance. “Joe, all that stuff you said to me was some of the sweetest things any guy has ever told me in my life. I would love to go on a date with you tomorrow night.” I said. I could tell I had a giant grin on my face but I was happy and I wanted the whole world to know it. Joe and I slowly leaned in towards each other, our lips seconds away from touching when Nick returned from the bathroom. “Momma, I want to go home now. Blue’s Clues is on soon and I’m just DYING to know what happens!” Nick said. Joe and I quickly pulled away from each other. “Um, well I guess we should get going then.” I said, kind of upset that I didn’t get the kiss I really wanted. “Yeah, I guess we should.” Joe said with a hint of disappointment in his voice. The three of us walked to the car and got in. Once again, Nick entertained us with his talkativeness. “So, should I drop you off at the school to get your car?” I asked Joe. “Actually, I don’t have a car at the moment. It’s in the shop. I just walk, it’s only like three blocks away. So you can just drop me off at the school.” Joe said. “Joe, I’m not going to make you walk three blocks. Just tell me where you live and I’ll drop you off.” I told him. “Miley, come on. I don’t want to be a burden on your afternoon.” Joe replied. “Just tell me Joe, it’s no
problem. I want to take you home.” “You’re not going to make this easy are you?” Joe joked. “Nope, so where am I headed?” I asked him again. “58 Maple Crest Road.” Joe told me. “No way! Nick and I live right down the road on Parker Street!” I said a little too excited. Joe laughed a little. “Well, what do you know? We’re practically neighbors.” Joe said. Five minutes later I pulled into Joe’s driveway and he slowly opened his door. “Thank you for the fun afternoon Mr. Jonas.” Nick said. “Oh, it was my pleasure bud. Have a good weekend and take care of your mom.” Joe told Nick. Nick gave Joe a little salute. “And Miley, I’ll see you tomorrow. I can’t wait for our date. Pick you up at 7.” Joe said adding in a wink before heading into his house. I looked down and blushed before driving down the street to my house. “Oooh, mommy’s got a boyfriend.” Nick said in a sing-song tone. I chuckled and thought to myself, ‘Oh, how I wish that was true.'
want to get to know.
“No way! I stood in front of my mirror as I finished curling my hair and got ready to do my makeup. I was concentrating so hard that I didn’t hear Nick come into my room. I did, however, feel him hug my legs. He then looked up and me and said, “Mommy, you are the most beautifullest girl in the world.” I looked down at him and smiled. “Thank you baby.” “I almost forgot to tell you! Uncle Taylor is downstairs.” Nick told me. “He is? Well I guess we should go down and say hi to Uncle Taylor then.” I said to Nick. We both walked down the stairs to find Taylor with his head in the fridge. “Is there ever a time when you’re not around food?” I jokingly said to Taylor. “Ha ha. Very funny.” Taylor responded back with food falling out of his mouth. “Dude, chew with your mouth CLOSED.” I said.
Taylor finally turned away from the fridge and looked me up and down multiple times. “Woah! I’ve been your best friend for so long that I forgot how hot you are.” Taylor said. I’m pretty sure my mouth was hanging wide open. “Did you just imply I’m ugly, Taylor Daniel?!” “No, I just said I forgot how hot you can be. Come on Miles, you know you’re gorgeous.” Taylor said. I smiled and gave him a giant hug. “So what do you have planned for you and Nick to do tonight?” “Guy stuff. Don’t worry about it.” Taylor said and then crossed his arms over his
chest. “Yeah, don’t worry about it babe.” Nick said before doing the same pose as Taylor. “Hey, young man, you need to be careful with your attitude.” I said before ruffling Nick’s hair. A second later, the doorbell rang. “Oh crap! He’s here!!” I yelled and began running around frantically searching for my clutch. “Miles, calm down. You’re way too stressed.” Taylor told me. “No, I’m not. I’m perfectly normal. I don’t know what you’re talking about!” I said totally lying. “Miles, you’re freaking out looking for something that’s already in your hand. That’s how I know you’re nervous. Just relax, stay calm, and have fun.” Taylor said with a reassuring smile. “You’re right. I’m gonna have a good time.” I said smiling back at Taylor. I slowly walked to the door and almost gasped when I saw how amazing Joe looked. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. He cleaned up good. Scratch that, he always looked good but him in a suit was just breathtaking. “Hey gorgeous.” Joe said before placing a small kiss on my cheek.

"Hey handsome.” I replied, trying to play it off like I wasn’t nervous. “Are you ready to go?” Joe asked me. “Yeah, just give me one second, I wanna say goodbye to Nick. Feel free to come in.” I told Joe before turning around and heading towards the living room. “Ok Nick, mommy’s going to leave now. Be a good boy. And don’t forget, I love you!” I said before kissing Nick’s cheek. “Goodbye mommy, I love you too! Goodbye Mr. Jonas, take good care of my mommy.” Nick said before turning around to continue watching Blues Clues. I then walked over to Taylor and gave him a hug. “Thank you so much for watching him on such short notice. It means a lot to me.” I told him. “No problem, I’ve got your back babe.” Taylor said. I pulled away and headed to the door. “Have a good night Nick and Taylor. And Taylor, no watching naughty stuff on the television after Nick goes to bed! I mean it!” I said half serious half joking. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just go. You’re wasting time.” Taylor said shooing me away. Joe and I headed for the door. On our way out, I took a risk and intertwined mine and his fingers. I figured it was okay because he’d done it to me before but I had to admit, I was still super nervous. Joe looked down and me and smiled. God, there was something about his smile that I just adored. I loved it so much. His teeth were probably the whitest I have ever seen which just added to his attractiveness. We made our way out to the car and Joe opened my door for me, made sure I was in safely, closed my door, and went around to his side of the car. Once he was buckled in, he started the car and our date officially began. “So where are we going on this fine evening?” I asked Joe. “That’s for me to know and for you to find out.” Joe said before pulling out of my driveway.
Chapter Eleven
The car ride there was perfect. We occasionally talked but at times, a silence would occur. I didn’t mind it though and I don’t think Joe did either.
The drive was about 30 minutes. We ended up in the next town over which was where all the upper class people lived. All the restaurants here were beyond
amazing, or so I’d heard. I never actually had the chance to experience eating there. I was now 10x more excited about where we would be eating but this
excitedness was overcome by my nervousness. Now if I fell flat on my face on the way into the restaurant or something, it would be in front of rich people! I
prayed that I wouldn’t make a fool of myself. Five minutes later, we pulled up to a building which was guarded by a fence. As we got closer to the fence, I
noticed a box mounted to the wall. Joe pulled up next to the box and hit the button. A man with a heavy French accent spoke “Hello, and welcome to Les Frères
Blanc restaurant. Name please?” “Hey Chuck, it’s Joe Jonas. I have a reservation for two at 8:00.” Joe said very confidently. “Ah, yes, Mr. Jonas. You’ve had
these reservations for two weeks you are most definitely on the list. Please drive forward and the valet will park your car for you. Oh, what am I saying?
You know the procedure.” The mysterious voice in the box said. I was so confused, the man said Joe had these reservations for two weeks. How was that
even possible. He had only asked me last night. “Two weeks?” I said under my breath but apparently loud enough for Joe to hear. “What was that, beautiful?”
Joe asked. “Um, nothing. Sorry, I’m just thinking about something.” I told him. “Would you like to share with the class what’s on your mind?” Joe asked me. “I
guess so. The man in the box said you had these reservations for two weeks. But you only asked me yesterday. So how is that possible?” I asked him hoping to get an answer. Joe let out a small sigh. “Yeah, you’re right, I only asked you yesterday. I made these reservations two weeks ago because if I hadn’t, I would
have no where to take you on our first date. I’m not gonna lie, since the moment I laid eyes on you, I’ve liked you. And when I found out you weren’t with
Taylor, I figured I had a chance. So I made these reservations and used every opportunity I had to get to know you. Then I figured when I felt comfortable
enough with you and when you were comfortable enough with me, I would ask you to dinner. And here we are today.” Joe said clearly embarrassed. “Joe..”

Chapter Twelve
“Joe… You always say some of the sweetest things ever. I don’t think I’ve ever met a guy who was half as sweet as you. Thank you.” I said before leaning
in and kissing his cheek. Although the sun was setting and it was getting darker, I could still see Joe blush as we pulled up to the valet. God, was there
ever a time when he didn’t look cute, I thought to myself. Joe pulled up to the entrance of the restaurant, got out, and walked over to my side. Once he was
there, he opened the door for me and put his left hand out. I took his hand and slowly rose from my seat. We walked hand in hand to the restaurant and I could see all eyes on us. I felt like such a princess with all this attention. There was a decent amount of people inside. I wasn’t surprised they all looked wealthy
though. This place was very classy. The walls were a deep red shade and the booths were a mahogany color. The wall paper had pictures of fruits and
vegetables on it. It was not my usual preference, McDonalds, but I wasn’t complaining. The host of the night, Paul, walked us to our booth and helped us get situated. Joe and I sat at a high table and as we waited for our menus, Joe reached over the table and held my hand. There go those butterflies and sparks again. Paul returned moments later and handed us our menus. He told us our server, Claire, would be here shortly to take care of us. Before he left, he told me that I looked absolutely stunning. I saw Joe tense up at that comment and tighten his grip on my hand. Paul must have noticed too because he quickly added in “You two are a lovely couple. Enjoy your meal!!” And ran away as fast as his legs would take him. My hand was beginning to hurt from how hard Joe was squeezing it. My face must have showed signs of pain because he quickly released his grip and muttered “sorry” to me over and over. I wanted to know what made his mood change so fast. I decided he looked angry enough at the moment so I would just let it go. But the mood at the table was awkward city. The silence was unbearable. Nothing like the comfortable silence we experienced in the car before. I decided to put an end to this awkwardness and attempted to start a conversation. “So what kind of music are you into?” I asked him. Joe’s eyes went from looking around the restaurant to looking at me. “Pardon?” Joe asked. I guess he was too zoned out to hear what I had to say. “Um, never mind. Look Joe, you seem kind of out of it
right now. Maybe I should call Taylor and ask him to pick me up. We can always go out another time. You know, when you‘re more calm.” I said as I slowly began to get up.

Chapter Thirteen
“Miley, wait.” Joe called after me getting up also. I turned around waiting to hear what Joe had to say. “Look, I’m sorry for being so quiet. It’s just I
really like you and I’m afraid that I’m gonna do something stupid. I’m afraid that you were gonna leave me and go to that Paul guy. That’s why I tensed up
when he made that comment towards you. I really like you and want to get to know you. And this guy in the suit taking you to the fancy restaurant, he’s not me. I know I’m rambling on and you probably don’t want to hear me but I just want you to know how much I like yo-.” Joe was soon cut off when I pressed my lips against his. I’m not sure how long we were like that for but however long it was, those were the best moments of my life. “That was a really nice way of
telling me to shut up.” Joe joked smiling down at me. “I try my best.” I joked back with him. “Hey, I’ve got a better idea. Why don’t we go for a ride? I know
a much more private place we can go.” Joe said. “Yeah sure, let’s go. But beforewe leave, we should probably pay the bill.” I told him. “Miley, let me teach you
a little thing called the ‘Dine-’N-Dash.’” Joe said before grabbing my hand and running out of the restaurant with me. Joe gave the valet $30 to hurry up and
get our car as fast as possible. As soon as we saw Joe’s black mustang, we ran into the car, and flew out of the parking lot. “Woah, what a rush!” I said. I’d
never done anything like that before. Never had I felt so alive. “You liked that, huh?” Joe asked me. I was so out of breath from all that running that I
just nodded my head. Joe chuckled and ruffled my hair before saying “you’re so cute.” I looked down blushing. As Joe drove down the road, he took his right
hand off the steering wheel and intertwined it with my left hand. I looked over at him and smiled. “Let me guess, I’m not allowed to know where we’re going,
right?” I asked Joe already knowing the answer. “You catch on fast Miss Cyrus" Joe said. I actually didn’t mind not knowing. I was just happy to be spending time with Joe.

Chapter Fourteen
I dozed off on the car ride only to be woken up 15 minutes later by Joe. I
opened my eyes and smelt something, water. We were near a beach. I looked out
and saw the most beautiful sight. (What Miley sees http://www.zigzagwallpapers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Beach-At-Night-Wallpaper-2.jpg) I was so speechless by this wonderful sight that all
I could manage to say was “Joe! This is beautiful!” Joe looked down at my and said “Not nearly as beautiful as you. Would you like to go for a walk with me, Miles?” I nodded my head. We began our walk down the beach. My shoes had been left in the car. I hated wearing shoes when I was on the beach, that’s like wearing a winter coat when you go spray tanning, it just doesn’t make sense. I loved the way the sand felt against my toes. Joe and I walked and talked. His left arm was wrapped around my waist. Everything just felt right. We decided to play a game of ‘questions’ to get to know each other a little better. We learned about each other’s favorite type of music, band, TV show, color, food, and hobbies. It was now Joe’s turn to ask me a question. He took a deep breath and said, “Miley, I know we’ve only known each other for two weeks not but it feels like so much longer. I can’t remember what life was like before you, I don’t want to remember it. I have never felt as happy as I do right now, here, on this beach, with you. I was wondering if you would be my girlfriend?”

Chapter Fifteen
Woah! Did he just ask what I think he did? Did he seriously just ask me to be his girlfriend? I was in total shock at that moment. I knew what my heart was
telling me but I couldn’t get my mouth to speak. I just stood there, shocked, staring at Joe. I couldn’t keep Joe waiting any longer so I finally came right
out and said it. “No, Joe, I will not be your girlfriend.” Joe’s face changed so fast. He nodded his head and slowly began walking back to his car. “Joe, wait!”
I yelled running after him. “What do you want now Miley? You weren’t finished ripping my heart out?” He said kind of angry. “Joe, I was kidding. Of course I
want to be your girlfriend! I want to be your girlfriend more than anything in the world. Since I first met you, I couldn’t wait for you to ask me that.” I told him, hoping he wouldn’t be mad. “You’re a tease Miss Miley. You know that right?” He asked with a smile on his face. That smile reassured me that he
forgave me for that little joke. “But that’s why you like me so much, right?” I said, giving him a cute look. “Yeah, sure.” He joked. “But I’m still going to
have to punish you for messing with me.” “And how do you plan on doing that?” I asked him. “I have my ways.” Joe said before turning around and disappearing. “Oh, I’m so scared.” I said in a sarcastic tone. “You should be.” A voice yelled from behind me. I knew that voice was Joe’s. I turned around to see where his voice was coming from but as soon as I turned, I felt myself being lifted off the ground. I looked down to see Joe had thrown me over his shoulder and was now running at full speed towards the water. “Joseph! Put me down this instant!!” I yelled at him, half joking, half scared. “Hmm, let me think about it… Nope!” Joe replied. “When I get down, you’re going to get it.” I said to him. “Is that a threat or a very sexy promise?” Joe said in a tone that made me melt. I giggled and gently hit his shoulder. “You’re such a dork.” I told him. “That may be true, but I’m your dork.” Joe said. I noticed Joe had stopped running and he was standing in the water, which was up to his knees. “Yay, you stopped running.” I said. I knew I shouldn’t have said that because next thing I knew, I was falling down into the water. As soon as I came up, I saw Joe running towards his car. “Yeah, you better run Jonas!” I yelled. I got out of the water and darted
towards the car. You could tell Joe was shocked at how fast I caught up to him. “Did I forget to mention I was a track star in High School and College?” I asked
him in a joking tone. “Yeah, you might have left out that minor little detail. Remind me never to try and run away from you ever again.” Joe said. “I’ll be
sure to remind you.” I looked down at my watch and saw it was now 10:30. I forgot how fast time flies when you’re on a date. “I should probably take you home soon but before I do, I have one last part of our date left.” Joe said. “And what might that be?” I asked him, eager to know what he had in store. “You’ll
just have to wait and see. Come on.” He said as he started to slowly walk somewhere. He paused and looked at me, “you coming?” he asked. I nodded my head and slowly jogged over to where he was waiting. As I got near him, he held out his hand, which I gladly accepted and we started walking to the secret
destination.
telling me but I couldn’t get my mouth to speak.
“You’ll

Chapter Sixteen
After what seemed like an eternity, Joe stopped walking. He told me we were almost there and that to keep the destination even more secret, he was going to
cover my eyes until we were there. I was a little nervous about where we were going and what we would be doing but I willingly agreed. Moments later, Joe told me we had arrived and that he was going to uncover my eyes. “You ready, baby?” He asked me. I nodded my head in excitement. Joe uncovered my eyes and sat on the ground. I looked down at him and he patted in front of his lap, which I assumed was a sign for me to sit. I sat down and he whispered in my ear “look at the sky.” I looked up to see http://www.southernskyphoto.com/constellations/images/matariki_dawn.jpg I was at a loss for words. “Wow, that is definitely something special.” I said. “Yeah, you are.” He said, clearly not referring to the sky. I looked down and blushed. “Hey, gorgeous, why are you blushing?” Joe asked me. “It’s just, no one has ever made me feel so special before. Everything you say about me, is just so cute. you always know how to make me smile.” I said, not able to look him in the eyes. “Aww, baby, you deserve to hear all the things I tell you and so much more. I’ve never met someone as incredible as you. You’re a mother at 20 yet you never complain. You’re something special, Miss Miley.” Joe said looking at me. I finally got the courage to look up at him. His light brown eyes meeting my oceanic blue ones. We just sat there looking at each other. Both of us scared to make the first move. I didn’t know why I was so nervous, we had already kissed before and we were dating but for some reason, it felt like when you’re in elementary school and you and your crush both like each other but are to scared to admit it. I was deep in thought only to be brought back into reality by the feeling of lips pressing against mine. I felt at peace. I kissed Joe back with everything in me. I was enjoying the moment when I felt Joe smile during the kiss. I loved when guys do that, it shows they’re into the moment and aren’t afraid to show it. I smiled also and continued kissing him. I then felt Joe’s tongue running across my lips. I slowly parted my lips open only to feel Joe’s tongue enter my mouth. My tongue and his slowly danced with each other. It felt nice to just enjoy a sweet make out. Not a heated one, nothing sexual, just tongues and kissing. This went on for about 5 minutes. Things were about to start heating up when I felt a vibration in my pocket. My phone was ringing. “Ugh.” I said before pulling away from the kiss. “Was I really that bad?” Joe asked, he seemed kind of offended. “No, babe, you were excellent. It’s just my phone is ringing.” I said before reaching into my pocket and pulling out my phone. “Hello?” I asked, annoyed. “Miley, it’s Taylor. Look, I’m sorry to interrupt your date but something’s wrong with Nick. I’m gonna take him to the hospital. Meet me there.” Was what Taylor said before the line went dead. I dropped my phone to the ground and burst out crying. “Baby, what’s wrong?” Joe asked me worried. I didn’t reply. I wanted to but my mouth couldn’t form the words. “Miley, baby, please talk to me.” Joe said sounding even more worried than before. He rubbed my back for comfort and I slowly began to calm down. “Its…Nick….Hospital…Needs….Me…Now..” Was all I could choke out. Joe sprang to his feet, picked me up, and ran to the car. I cried the whole way there and Joe continued to comfort me by whispering sweet things in my ear and rubbed my back. It was so sweet of him but I couldn’t fully appreciate it because the only thing on my mind right now was Nicholas.

Chapter Seventeen
The car ride on the way to the hospital was filled with my sobs and Joe whispering gently to me that everything would be ok. I wanted to believe him, really I did but I just couldn’t. I wouldn’t believe things would be ok until Nick was in my arms again. Once I could hold Nick, I would have some hope that he would be ok. Finally, we got to the hospital. Joe barely had a chance to stop the car before I ran out and dashed towards the entrance. Behind me, I could hear Joe yelling for me to slow down. I couldn’t slow down, I wouldn’t slow down. Not until I knew where Nick was and what was going on. Joe was persistent though and caught up to me. When Joe caught up to me and we finally got to the door of the hospital, we stopped running and walked in. I reached for Joe’s hand as a sign of comfort. He stroked my hand with his thumb, a feeling I loved. I was still breathing heavily and found it difficult to talk. “Baby, I know you’re worried about Nick but you have to calm down. I don’t want you to get too stressed and end up sick as well. Why don’t you take a seat while I find out
where Nick is and what’s going on.” Joe said to me. There was no use in arguing with him, I followed his orders and sat in a chair. Moments later, Joe came back and sat down next to me. I looked over at Joe and waited for him to tell me what was going on. “As of right now, they’re not sure what is wrong with Nick. He’s currently in the E wing where they’re running some tests on him. After they finish the tests, they’re going to take him to the C wing where all the children go. We’re allowed to go there and wait for him. But they did warn us that it might be a little traumatic to see him on the gurney and in the hospital gowns. So if you’d prefer, we can stay here.” Joe said. It took a moment for all of that to sink into my head. Once I processed it though, I decided I couldn’t just sit here while my baby was sick, I had to go wait for him. I shook my head and said to Joe, “I have to go wait for him. I want to see him as soon as he’s done. No matter how bad the sight is, I need to make sure he’s ok.” Joe nodded his head and slowly got up. Once he was standing, he put his left hand out for me to grab. When I didn’t he gave me a look. “Carry me?” I asked with puppy dog eyes. “Baby, you know I can’t resist that face.” Joe said pretending to sound annoyed. I giggled and looked at him with pleading eyes. He sighed and carried me bridal style to the elevator. We went to the 5th floor of the B wing and walked down the long hallway until we saw the colorful signs for C wing. We entered into a colorful waiting room. It was so much nicer than the one we were previously in. This one was painted a calm, ocean blue. There was pictures of sailboats and clouds on the walls. There was many different varieties of toys for the waiting children to play with. I had to admit, I kind of liked this place. Then I thought back to Nick and felt sad again. I needed to know what was wrong with him and if he would be ok. I felt myself calming down when I saw the door that connected the back room, where the patients were, to the waiting room, where the families were opened. “The parents of Nicholas Jonas?” Asked a young doctor who looked to be in his mid thirties. “That would be me.” I said slowly standing up. I noticed Joe had stood up too. “We have concluded our tests on Nick and nothing is drastically wrong. However, he does seem to have appendicitis. It is very important that we remove his appendix at once.” I almost fainted. I was relieved that nothing was seriously wrong with Nick but I was still worried about what would happen during his surgery. All I could do was nod my head. I wanted to see Nick so badly before he went in for his operation but I
couldn’t get out the words to ask. Joe must have red my mind because I heard his voice say “Is it ok if we go see him quickly before he’s put under the anesthetic?” The doctor nodded his head and opened the door that led to where the patients are. “He’s in room 818, on the right.” Joe and I made our way down to Nick’s room. “Hey, he’s in room 818, just like your classroom.” I said at the coincidence. “Must be a sign then.” Joe said before rubbing my back as we stood in the doorway. Joe and I stood there looking at Nick who was chattering away with Taylor. Nick must have felt our presence because he stopped talking and looked at the doorway. Once he saw who was there, he put on the biggest smile ever. “Mommy! Mr. Jonas!” He said, practically screaming. I smiled and walked over to him. “Hey baby. How you feeling?” I asked him. “My tummy hurts a little but I get to have surgery!” He said sounding very excited. “Yes you do babe. Are you happy about that?” I asked him. He nodded his head. Our visit was cut short when Doctor Steinbrecker, the one who would be taking care of Nick, poked his head in the doorway. “I’m sorry to interrupt but I have to take Nick now.” He said. I looked over at Joe and Taylor and nodded my head. I then looked at Nick and said to him “Everything’s going to be ok Nicky. Mommy loves you so much.” I gave him a big hug as did Taylor and Joe. We then walked out the door. On the way out to the waiting room, I heard the wheels of the gurney as they went down the hall. That was all it took before I fell onto my knees crying.

Chapter Eighteen
I could sense everyone was staring at me but I didn’t care. Joe immediately rushed to my side and picked me up. He carried me outside the hospital, sat me
on the hood of his car, and just held me as I continued to cry. Not once did he tell me to stop or that I was being ridiculous. He just listened to me. When I
was pretty sure I ran out of tears, I looked over to see Joe’s lovely eyes staring out into the distance. “What are you looking at?” I asked him. “Just the
stars.” “Why?” I asked him confused. “Well, when I was a little boy, whenever something bad happened, I would go outside and just stare at the sky until I
felt better.” He said continuing to stare at the sky. I put my finger under his chin and made him look at me. His eyes were looking right back at mine and I did
the only thing that could make me feel better at the moment, I leaned in and kissed him. I felt all the pain slowly go away. Not only that, but I felt fireworks going off. Never in my life had I felt this way when I kissed someone before. I was really into the kiss and from what I could tell, he was too. After about 10 minutes, we simultaneously pulled away. We both just sat there staring into each other’s eyes. I could see my reflection in his eyes and I looked happy. He looked happy too. We were both together and we were happy. I gently got off of his car and started walking around the building. It was now around
1:00 am and I wasn’t sure what was happening with Nick. I knew it was way beyond visiting hours so I wasn’t sure if I could get back into the hospital. I decided to call Taylor, who was still inside. It seemed like the phone was ringing endlessly until finally I heard a deep, groggy voice on the other line. “Hello?”
“Hey Tay. Sorry to wake you up. I was just wondering how Nick’s doing. Any word on him?” I asked trying to sound calm. “The doctor just told me that Nick’s
almost done. He’ll be out in about five minutes but he’s been put to sleep for right now. They said that you and Joe can spend the night in his room if you
want. That way when he wakes up, you’ll be the first thing he says.” “Yes, please tell the doctor I’ll definitely be there. I’ll ask Joe if he wants to come to. But I’m on my way inside right now.” I said. We said our goodbyes and hung up. I told Joe the latest update I had gotten and he agreed to spend the night in the hospital with me and Nick. We walked inside and told the lady at the front desk who we were and what was going on. She told us that there was a cot in the room to sleep on. I thanked her for her help and Joe and I made our way to the C wing. We walked inside to see Nick asleep in the hospital bed. He looked so calm and at peace. I sat on the edge of the bed and softly stroked his hair. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and then went over to the cot which was in the corner of the room. I looked around and was shocked to see there was only one cot. There was two of us spending the night, where was the other supposed to sleep? “Well it looks like we’re sharing a bed tonight.” Joe said, grinning. “I guess so.” I said grinning back. Joe laid down first and I quickly followed. “Goodnight
baby.” Joe said kissing my hair. “Goodnight honey.” I said back. I was slowly drifting off to sleep when I felt Joe wrap his arms around my body. I smiled and
felt the butterflies flutter in my stomach. I finally fell asleep.
*The next day*
I woke up at around 8:00 that morning. Joe still had his arms tightly wrapped around my body. I looked over at him and smiled. I kissed his lips, not expecting him to kiss back, and shocked when he did. We kept this up for a few minutes only to stop when a loud voice sounded. “Ew! Mommy and daddy are kissing!”

Chapter Nineteen
I quickly pulled away from Joe and sprung up so I was now sitting up straight in the bed after I realized what Nick had just said. “Nick, what did you just
say?” I asked him in hopes of getting to the bottom of things. “I said…Eww, mommy and daddy are kissing.” He repeated himself adding in an eye roll to show
that he was annoyed. “Nicholas Jerry Cyrus! What have I said about rolling your eyes before?” I said getting a little angry. “Not to do it. I’m sorry mommy. I
love you.” Nick said before slowly approaching the cot Joe and I were sitting on. I reached down, picked him up, and placed him in my lap. I slowly stroked
his hair. “So how are you feeling this morning?” Joe asked Nick. “I’m much better now that mommy’s here and that you’re here too daddy.” Nick said smiling.
I was so confused, why was Nick calling Joe daddy all of a sudden? “Hey babe?” Both Joe and Nick looked over at me. I giggled and looked at Joe. “Joey bear,
would you mind going to the café and getting me a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip muffin?” Joe nodded and stood up. He was on his way out when he stopped and looked back at me “Cream and two equal sugars.” We said simultaneously. We looked at each other and started laughing. As the laughter died down, Joe once again made his way towards to door and left. It was now Nick and I in the room and I figured I had to find out what was going on in Nick’s mind. “Baby, I have a question to ask you.” I said nervously. “What is it mama?” Nick asked. “This morning, you called Mr. Jonas daddy. Why is that?” “Because, you and daddy hold hands and hug and kiss. And that’s what mommies and daddies do. If you do it when you’re not a mommy and a daddy, it’s gross. You can get cooties…and die.” Well, I should have expected an answer like that. Seeing as he’s only five, going on six in a few weeks. I just smiled and nodded my head at him. The room was filled with silence and then Joe came back with a coffee, muffin, glazed donut, and orange juice in his hand. He handed me my coffee and muffin and gave Nick the donut and orange juice. “You didn’t get anything for yourself babe?” I asked him. “I ate down there. I figured it’d be less stuff to carry.” Joe said. I nodded and then said “Well thank you for getting me and Nick our breakfast.” “No problem babe.” He came over and kissed me. “Anything exciting going on downstairs?” I asked curious to know. “Not really. There was this really hot girl working there though. I got her digits.” He said before pulling out a piece of paper with numbers and the name “Camilla” written on it. I felt myself get so angry. I got up and headed for the door. “Miley, it was a joke! I was kidding. You know I would never look at another girl the way I look at you.” It was no use, I was furious. I didn’t care if it was a joke or if he was serious. “I’ll be back Nick.” I yelled before storming down the hall. I heard Joe sigh really loudly and curse himself for being so stupid to which Nick replied “You’re in big trouble Mister!”

Chapter Twenty
I walked down the long, busy hallway, so many thoughts going through my head. Joe and I hadn’t even been dating for one full day and yet he was already looking at other girls. If this is how he was going to act, was it even worth being with him? I knew one thing for sure, I was angry and I needed to do something to get rid of this anger. I stormed down to the café and walked to the counter. An average height girl with short brown hair and brown eyes came over to me. “Can I help you?” She asked me. I looked at her nametag and saw ‘Camilla’ written on it. “Actually, yes, you can, Camilla!” I said adding emphasis to her name to get my point across that I was angry and what was about to come next. “I hear you gave your number to Joe,” I paused and looked at her. She nodded her head and I continued on “I think you should be aware that Joe is seeing someone and they’re really happy together. I refuse to let their relationship crumble because of a whore like you. So here’s my warning, delete his number from your phone and get him off your mind because if I ever see you near him again, you’ll wish you and him had never met. And that’s not a threat, it’s a promise. And FYI, I don’t break promises.” I said before heading towards the door to leave this fuck forsaken café, have some peace and quiet, and go see my son. “Miley, wait.” I heard a voice say. So much for peace and quiet I thought to myself. I tried to ignore the voice and hurried to the elevator which was about to close. I hoped I could get in and get away from the person calling for me. I was about to step inside when a pair of hands grabbed me and pulled me back. I was thrown over his shoulders as he went to a nearby bench and sat down. He carefully placed me in his lap and just looked at me. “Miley, I’m sorry for what I did. Yes, I took her number and that was wrong of me but I had no plans of calling her. I thought it was a funny joke but now I realize how much it hurt you and that I shouldn’t have done it. I’m so so so sorry.” Joe said. I finally stopped staring at the wall and looked at him. I was about to say something but he continued before I had the chance. “I hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me because I really like you and I don’t wanna lose you.” He was about to continue but I stopped him by pressing a finger to his lip. “Yeah, I get it, you’re sorry. I forgive you. Just shut up and kiss me.” I said eager to feel his lips against mine. “I can’t argue with that request.” Joe said before leaning in. Our lips were so close but Joe then said “Before we kiss, I just wanna say I heard what you said to Camilla and that was totally hot.” I playfully slapped him and then he leaned back in. “You know what, the moment’s kinda ruined now. I think I’m gonna go see Nick instead.” I said before climbing off of Joe’s lap and heading to the elevator. I could imagine how shocked Joe must have been sitting there but he deserved a little revenge. I stepped into the elevator and was looking down when I felt someone appear right next to me. I didn’t want to look up because what if it was some strange person who wanted to kill me. I tried to act like I didn’t notice but it was no use, the creeper wouldn’t move. I stayed calm and took deep breaths until the elevator stopped at my floor. I got off in hopes of the creeper staying on but of course, they followed me. I started to walk down the hallway when I felt myself being lifted off the ground. I knew whose arms they were so I started lightly slapping the person’s back. “Joseph Adam Jonas, put me down right now!!” I screamed while giggling. “So first you storm off on me, then you ignore me, then you run away from me when I try and kiss you, then you ignore me in the elevator and now you’re hitting me and I’m supposed to let you go? What has the world come to?” Joe joked. “Ugh, you’re such a jerk and I hate you. I don’t know how I put up with you.” I joked back. “Miss Cyrus! That is no way to talk to the man you love.” Joe said to me. “I never said I love you.” I said back. “But I can tell you do.” Joe said before placing me on the ground. He looked me in the eyes and gently tucked a strand of hair behind me ear. He then took my face in his hands and gently brought it up towards his. “It’s ok though because, I love you Miley.” He said before leaning in.
Chapter Twenty-One
“What did you say?” She asked, trying to make sure she heard him correctly. “I uh said, I want some beef stew Miley. Yeah, let’s go get some.” Joe said trying to put an end to the awkward situation that had just occurred. “No, that’s not what you said. You said you love me. You love me. Yooouuu loooveee me.” Miley said while cabbage patching around the room. “Miley, knock it off, it’s not funny.” Joe said feeling embarrassed that she didn’t say it back. “Why would I knock it off? I think it’s cute that you love me.” “Miley, please stop.” Miley stopped dancing and walked over to Joe. She whispered in his hear “Make me.” Then, in an instant, she was running down the hospital hallway and outside. Joe ran after her darting in between nurses, doctors, and random objects in the hallway. “S’cuse me. Pardon me. I’m sorry, I’m in a hurry I need to get through.” Joe shouted as he ran down the hall. He was running so fast and not paying attention to where he was going. He heard a crash sound and knew whatever it was, feel because of him. “I’ll pay for that! I promise!” Joe yelled before running outside in search of Miley. He looked all around the courtyard and couldn’t find her. He was about to run back inside when he felt the weight of a person on his back. “I got you right where I want you.” The person purred in his ear. Thinking it was Miley, Joe went along with it. “Yes you do.” Joe said back in a sexy voice. “Kiss me you fool.” The voice whispered. Joe slowly turned his head toward the person and was about to kiss them when he heard a voice. “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!” Joe’s head spun around to see an angry Miley standing there with tears pouring down her face and her arms crossed over her chest. Joe shook the girl, who was Camilla, off his back which resulted in a loud thud on the ground. “Oww.” Camilla said. Joe tried to walk over to Miley only to have her run past him and over to Camilla. “I told you to stay away from him. But apparently you don’t like to listen. As soon as you get up, I’ll make sure I knock some sense into your brain you stupid see you next Thursday!” Miley yelled. Camilla said in a low voice “I’m sorry for not listening to you. Please don’t hurt me, I promise I’ll never ever go near him again. Just don’t hurt me.” “Whatever. You’re not worth my time. My son’s in the hospital, I should be visiting with him not watch myself get cheated on. And you.” Miley said turning to face Joe. “I gave you a second chance after you hurt me the first time. You claimed it was a ‘joke’ but now I see you apparently lied to me about lying. I can’t deal with this. I hope you and her are happy together. And to think I was gonna tell you I love you too. I’m glad I didn’t, it would have been a waste of my breath.” And with that, she stormed off back towards the hospital.
Chapter Twenty-Two [The End]
I walked down the now all too familiar hallways. I just wanted to get to the C wing so I could get to Room 818 and hold my baby. Tears were pouring down my face. How could I love someone that was such an ass? I thought he was different but it turns out he was no better than Nick’s father. I hated me. Absolutely everything about them made me sick. They lured you in with lies and then once they got what they wanted, they were gone the next day. Well fuck men. I don’t need a man in my life. I have Nick and that’s all I need. I heard a voice yelling my name but didn’t even bother to turn around because I knew who it was. I quickened my pace and hoped to get to Nick’s room soon. “MILEY! Please just give me a chance to explain.” The voice begged me. I stopped walking which gave him time to catch up. When he finally got near me, he slowed his pace down and started breathing heavily. “What do you want, Joseph?” I asked him angrily. “I want a chance to explain what happened.” Joe said. “There’s no need for explanations. You’re a piece of shit that enjoys lying to his girlfriend and
watching her heart get broken four times in one day.” I said back to him. I was about to turn around and walk to Nick’s room when I felt a hand touch my shoulder. “Joseph, I don’t have time for your games. My son is going to be released soon and I’d much rather spend my time with him than with someone who doesn’t care about me.” “For God’s sake Miley, I do love you! Sure, most people would find it crazy but I’m fucking head over heels for you. I’ve never felt this way about any other girl before. If I lost you, I think I’d kill myself because there’s no other reason to live. But if you’re gonna have to break up with me because of one stupid, meaningless mistake, then I can’t stop you. I think it’s a real waste though because I love you with everything in me.” Joe said, tears slowly forming in his eyes. His voice was now calm and he just looked at me with his gorgeous light brown eyes. “I’m sorry. I’ll leave you alone now.” He whispered before turning around and walking away. “Joe, wait!” I yelled trying to get his attention. He turned around and looked at me, there was a sign of hope in his eyes. I couldn’t believe I was about to do this; my head was telling me no but my heart was telling me yes. Sorry head, I’m gonna have to agree with my heart on this one, I thought to myself. I ran at full speed towards Joe and spread my arms wide. Joe was so shocked that he almost didn’t catch me but he realized what was happening and spread his arms as well. He picked me up and spun me around. Our lips connecting and fireworks going off. “I have to tell you something Joe.” I said. “What’s up babe?” Joe asked me, and then kissed me. “I love you Joseph Adam Jonas. Forever and always.” I said before kissing him. “I love you Miley Ray Cyrus and one day Jonas. Always and forever.” Joe said kissing me back. I smiled through the kiss and then heard a small voice. “Yay, mommy and daddy are back together!” Nick squealed before jumping up and down. “Yup, mommy and daddy are back together forever son.” Joe said smiling at me and then looking down at Nick. “I love my boys so much.” I said while holding Nick. “We love you too.” Nick and Joe said in unison. I couldn’t help but laugh. I knew life as a young mother would be ok as long as I had Joe by my side. Because that same day, Joe made me a promise. He told me “I’ll always be there for you babe.”

Epilogue
3 Years Later
Miley nervously paced around the living room waiting for the front door to open. “Mom, you need to chill out. Everything’s going to be fine.” Nick, who was now nine, said. “I know it will be. I’m just nervous about how daddy will take the news.” I said. Nick paused COD, got up from the couch, and hugged me. “Mommy, daddy’s going to be thrilled with the news. Trust me.” Nick said. “What would I do without you Nicholas?” I asked. “Life would be pretty dull. I can tell you that much.” Nick said. “Ha, very funny. Now go upstairs and get your stuff together. Taylor’s picking you up in an hour and you’re spending the night there. Remember, no funny business.” I said in a stern but joking tone. “Yeah, yeah, yeah.” Nick said while heading up the stairs. I heard Nick’s door shut and then I heard the closing of a car door. That meant Joe was home.
My stomach was doing summersaults. I was so nervous. The front door opened and closed and I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist followed by someone kissing my neck. “Hi babe.” I said, excited to see Joe home and showing affection. “Hello baby. I missed you all day.” Joe whispered into my ear. “The feeling’s mutual.” I said before turning around and kissing him with extreme amounts of passion. Joe slowly pulled away and said “Save that for later, when Nick’s not here.” I sighed out of frustration but agreed. Saving it for later would make it even more romantic. Just like our first time. I was so shocked at how Joe carefully planned it out. Rose petals and candles everywhere, romantic music, and so much more that I probably shouldn’t say[;. I walked upstairs and began getting ready. I put on a salmon colored cocktail dress that fell about ¾ above my knee. I wore 3 inch heels so it would be less awkward when me and Joe kissed. And I curled my hair. Even though Joe and I had gone on hundreds of dates before, I knew this one was something much different than our usual dates. Tonight was going to be something special. I walked out of the room and down the stairs to see Taylor, Nick, and Joe all huddled in front of the TV watching Nick dominate at COD. They were so into the game that they didn’t notice me enter the room. I cleared my throat in an attempt to get them to notice me but it was no use. “Well, I guess I’ll go walk the streets. Find myself a nice corner and maybe a nice guy who wants to take me out to dinner.” I said, half joking. At that last comment, Joe’s head turned around so fast I thought it was going to fall off. “That better be a joke. No one is ever going near my baby.” Joe said, getting up, and walking over to me. I smiled when he called me his baby. I loved the little nicknames he would gave me. He was wearing a pair of dark wash jeans, and a navy blue button down shirt. Even though we’d been together for three years, today, seeing him dress up still made me go weak at the knees. Joe and I said goodbye to Nick and Taylor and were on our way. Like always, Joe knew where we were going and I had to be surprised. I was so used to it by now though that I didn’t mind. A half hour later, Joe pulled the car into a lot and I smelled water. I looked around and noticed we were where at the beach we went to after we Dine-’N-Dashed at that fancy French restaurant. The only thing that was different was that it wasn’t totally dark yet. The sun was just setting which gave me the perfect view of a blanket and a picnic basket placed on the ground and was close enough to the ocean that we could enjoy its beauty but not so close that we would get splashed every five seconds. I looked over at Joe and smiled. “Babe, did you plan all this?” I asked him, smiling in return. “Yeah, I wanted tonight to be special.” Joe opened his car door and walked over to my side. He then opened my door for me and held out his hand which I gladly accepted. I intertwined our fingers and Joe led the way to our beach picnic. We laughed and talked for two hours. The sun was now down and in return, the stars now filled the sky. I started shivering a little and Joe unbuttoned his shirt and placed it on me leaving him in a white beader. I thought I was gonna melt at the sight in front of me. “Thanks.” I said, looking down and blushing. I couldn’t help but notice Joe was nervous and I had to admit I was nervous too. “Honey, are you ok?” I asked, worried about what was wrong. “I’m fine, it’s just I have something really important to tell you. But it doesn’t feel like the right place to do it. Can we take a walk?” I nodded and Joe got up and held out his hand to help me up.
We walked farther down the beach to where we stood when Joe asked me to be his girlfriend. Joe took both of my hands and spoke. “Miley, ever since the first day we met, in room 818, I’ve had feelings for you. I immediately thought you were the most beautiful woman in the whole wide world. As I got to know you, I also realized not only were you the most beautiful but you were the smartest, funniest, sweetest, and most caring as well. My mother always told me as soon as you find ‘the one’ to let her know, hold onto her, and never let her go. I know you are the one for me, my true love. The only woman I would ever want to be with. There’s not another person on this earth that makes me as happy as you do. Not only are you the most amazing girlfriend but you are the most amazing mother and I know you will be the most amazing wife.” Joe then slowly got down onto one knee. “Miley Ray Cyrus, will you marry me?” By this point, tears were streaming down my face. Not tears of anger, sadness, or rage, but tears of joy. “Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. I will marry you Joseph Adam Jonas.” I said in excitement. Joe slowly got up and gently put both of his hands around my face. “I love you Miley.” “I love you Joseph.” We said to each other before leaning in and sharing a soft, sweet kiss. We slowly walked back to the car, hand in hand. “I can’t wait to tell everyone that Miley Ray Cyrus is my fiancée.” Joe said with a big smile on his face. “It’s going to interesting hearing everyone’s reactions to this amazing news.” “That’s not the only news we have to share with them.” I said nervously knowing that now was the best time to tell Joe. “What do you mean?” Joe asked me, looking very confused. “We have something else to tell them.” I said. Joe looked at me, clearly still confused. “I’m pregnant!” I said, smiling. Joe stopped walking and looked down at me. “Seriously?” He asked. I nodded my head. Joe picked me up and spun me around. He gently placed me down on the ground and kissed my stomach. “I love you baby.” He said to my belly. He then looked at me and kissed me softly. I pulled away and we walked back to the car. The entire way home, Joe held his right hand on my stomach, gently massaging it. “I can’t wait until our baby comes.” Joe said with a big smile on his face. I just smiled. I figured I would wait until a later time to tell him the even bigger news, we were having twins.
